  • Important Question, need help from the pros haha

Okay, so yea my car got vandalized, part of the stuff they did was key the door, right rear panel and ICBC came and took a look at it. They gave me two options

    A) Get the door and rear panel painted at a place nearby called GT Collision.
    B) Take 70% of the cost of having those parts painted for myself.

With option A that would leave my paint mix-matched and if I wanted to paint the rest while there it'll cost about another 7,000 which is like the price of another car. Option B will get me some cash but I don't know where else to go, no one around here paints cars.

Paint matching and blending these days is better then it has ever been. You wont notice the difference if the shop is reputable.

Option C would be talk to the sponsor on this board offering thousand dollar paint jobs for skylines.

As mcfly said, paint matching is pretty evolved, they can scan your current paint pigment with the sun ware to match it.

Only thing that you could see a difference with overtime would be clearcoat. When they repaint they usually put clearcoat on, so if the other parts of the car that aren't getting painted do not have clearcoat on them (older red paint for example) over time the clearcoat is always going to shine, as the rest of the paint will keep on fading.

This kid doesnt understand what a cars worth and keeping it looking nice isnt easy sometimes. You should bring him down and make him kiss your shoes:hit_head:

if you know who did it why isnt he being charged with willful destruction of property and vandalism...

also, the kid or his unlucky parents should be paying for your deductible or a new paint job...

He said he's gonna pay for the decutible maybe a little more for the paint scratch that I'm keeping on and his cousin has told him and his sister who knows me he's not paying anything, but this happened back in November so I don't know if it's too late for the police involvement. But anyways I'm looking for 300 from both for deductible and slap on the wrist, 200 for the paint (cause I'll be getting money from ICBC too), 200 for the tires they did, ICBC is only paying for half the tires cost cause they slashed them with an exacto knife. They also hit the windows too. And another 100 from both for me keeping it away from the police and another 150 for the tow truck. If they don't comply then I'm gonna try to get the cops involved, question is though, is it too late and there's no one that's going to testify against them, the kids sister won't cause it's her family. But pretty much everyone in the school knows and he has openly admitted it to everyone, is that enough?

By the way the 1350 and however much I get for ICBC will pay enough for a paint job from where ever martin's advertising.
You can still involve the police, aslong as you can get someone to testify openly in court saying that this kid admitted to damaging your car its golden.
I know exactly what your going through i had my car ****** with last spring by my ex gf's friends they caused quite alot of damage. In my case there was no proff that they did it so i couldnt bring them to court to pay the damages. In your case like i said if you can get someone to testify you will win.

On another thought if it is too late just smash this kid. I know its immature starting a fight over a car right??? WRONG.... Me personally my car is one of my biggest hobbies and i dont let anyone get away with pulling what you have explained above. I was i was in vancouver i would handle this for you.

why are you being so nice and accommodating to these punks? the police should have been called long ago. Here's an idea. get a voice recorder try to get them to openly admit to it on the phone or some other way.

Tell them they have 5 days to pay you the full amount you are asking for. If they don't you will be calling the police. Make sure you have someone willing to stand on your behalf prior to calling them just to be sure. BE TOUGH if 5 days passes call the police. Which you should have done loooong ago. They are useless people who deserve to get busted.

BUT, if you think there is serious risk to your well being take that as a serious threat. What you do may have consequences. Although if you formally inform the police of what you have heard or know. Then hopefully they will do their job. If you know 100% the guy is into serious drugs tell them. Just don't tell anyone you did.

You have to be careful with the recorder though.. if you don't let the other party know they are being recorded, the recording will be invalid in court.. and man, best of luck.

I know for sure, i would love to beat the living **** out of that guy if he did that to my car.. but, go to the police. It doesn't matter how long it's been, a crime is a crime. Yes, they committed the crime a couple months ago, but you were trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and they obviously are taking that for granted. Take em down!! It's like the law says "Suspects are innocent untill PROVEN guilty!"

If the rest of paint is in reasonably good condition, I would think that removing rear 1/4 windows, buy some new rear 1/4 windows seals (your going to have to buy new front, rear window seals), sand it back to paint, bog that scratch and other area's like stone chips. Then mask, repaint whole car with original colour or another colour and reclear the whole car. That way it's even over the whole car.

Similar to this way, but the whole car -

If you remove the plastic lick plates it the door ways, you'll probably find that they rust on the welds on or around the seam.

With windows out, make sure they mask, repaint around the edges of windows. If you don't, windows can become distorted when they are installed and when chassis twist's, windows can cracks. I was warned about this by a wndow specialist when I had a leak in rear window (common problem) and wanted to replace the seals under window.
