  • Sequence of actions to import

    Hi GTRCers,

Thanks in advance for the help (noob disclaimer!)

Am looking to bring in an R33 as soon as they are legal, which I imagine is Jan 2010?

I'd like to pick one of these up:
    (tradecarview).com/used_car/japan_car/nissan/skyline+gt-r/1874320/

Are there any reputable importers in Canada that you've had an easy time dealing with? What kind of headaches can I expect? Which auction grades should I look for, 4.0 reasonable? I'm assuming 12-15k USD for the car, 3-4k shipping, and then what?

Is tradecarview a good place to start?

    Am in Ottawa, CA.

    Thanks!
    Alex

your first post should be in the new members sections...

and your second post should be asking questions that you could not find answers with by using hte search function...

these questions have been asked and answered numerous times

      I'm thinking you'll have a hard time finding a legit 4.0 grade R33 GTR for 12K...........

Thanks for the post tokes. The only info I've had was off of tradecarview, which is the most legit lookin site I could find (and read) as far as Japanese auctions go.

        What should I expect to pay for a 4.0 R33. 20k?

20K seems like a much more reasonable level, if not higher.

Most of Zele International's cars are 4.0 cars, and look at the premiums they fetch. I think the best way to go about it would be to get someone like Adam @ Feast to find you a nice, clean, non-auction car. All of the nicer GTR's I've seen in the flesh have been private or business sales, not auction cars.

Yep, I would recommend Adam as well (no cars purchased, but I've been happy with the parts purchasing service so far!), and on this end....while I've never used him for vehicles, I've heard good things about dah_hunter with Fraser Valley Imports (unless you do all the importation stuff on this end yourself).

                  Don't forget Mike at rightdrive.ca

Very nice cars so I've seen and heard about.

If I was to import another, it would either be through him,

or.. Adam at Feast (Japan) to find the car, with the import (Canada) side handled by dah_hunter.

Best 2 options I figure by monitoring this site, and other members experiences.

Like everyone is saying though, expect to pay a premium for a true 4.0 car. If one can even be found, because I'm sure the R33 GTR demand will be up when they first start coming in.

I also would suggest Mike at rightsidedrive.

If you go, tell him Matt L. sent you.

He provides you with a 100% turn key operation and is the most detail orientated, hands on importer i've seen.
You show up the day its ready and drive off (granted you have insuracne ready). Mike takes care of everything. He is the man.

                      Thanks!

Thanks for the responses so far guys. Nice to find a good bunch; compared to all the assholes I ran into with my TCed RSX at clubrsx.com -- it's very refreshing!

I've seen rightdrive.ca in some trader.ca ads. Their cars seemed a bit higher priced than comparable offers on the net. Perhaps the service is worth it then!

feastauto...based in Japan I'm guessing then?

Zele really does have some nice cars!

Would I contact a guy like Adam to get one of these over? Sorry for all the Qs - might seem like I have more cash to burn than brains from reading this thread...not the case, just don't want to get burnt!

prices are higher for a reason
price includes, e-test, saftey, plates, transfer, sticker, 1 year powertrain warranty, detail, all mto required modifications, etc etc
as i mentioned, its all turnkey and you get a show qaulity, ready car

plus some of the best service in the industry
