The hint here is "don't relocate your battery to the trunk unless you really have too".
And, yes these rules apply to ALL vehicles, street legal or any other class. If you are running 9.99 then the battery is the least of your worries. I ran 11.20 with my bat. in the stock location and it was perfectly legal. We are lucky that Nissan had racing in mind with these cars and gave us a firewall in the back making our lives much easier when it comes to this kind of stuff. The firewall is manditory if you want to have any fuel system stuff back there too.
