  • Authorized Dealers List - Canada

With so much concern as of late with parts warranty and such, along with the debate over Authorized Dealer status and the GREY MARKET, I have taken it upon myself to begin a list of common parts manufacturers that we use and their authorized dealers as shown on their websites.

This is in an attempt to help better protect consumers and the sometimes multi-thousands of dollars invested into this hobby and to make sure they, the consumer, are buying their items from Authorized sources who can properly address their WARRANTY CLAIMS as well as follow the Regional Distribution agreements as set out by the Manufacturers themselves.

In each case, I have tried to list (and gave TOP billing in the list to) a FORUM SPONSOR where applicable, as that is only fair. In cases where the manufacturer did not list one of our Forum Sponsors, I made a note of that and simply listed an alternative Canadian Dealer. Many of our Forum Sponsors already show up on the Manufacturer's sites, so we are protected to a degree already - Thanks to those Sponsors !

For listings that have no SPONSOR listed, this is just temporary and as soon as one can be verified, the NON-Sponsor listing will be REMOVED from the list and replaced with one of our Sponsors.

To the Sponsors: If I have missed putting you on the list under any of the Manufacturers that you DO infact represent, please provide a link to the manufacturer's site showing your elegibility and I will gladly update the listing to reflect your company information, as a Canadian Authorized Dealer.

To Forum Users: If you would like to contribute by doing a little research yourselves, please do. This is just a small list to get us started. To be fair, I would appreciate that there is PROOF of every claim, fair to every vendor and ALWAYS listing Forum Sponsors FIRST, unless one does not exist in the Dealer list on the Manufacturer's website.

This is a work in progress, but will hopefully help in the future so that no members will never be faced with Warranty issues and the fear of purchasing Grey Market items to which they are not actually eligible to purchase, such as we find on Ebay and other sites too many times these days.

    Let's get started:

For clarification, what would be a good test of 'authorized dealer'? Listed on mfgr website is kind of obvious. Others?

First off, I don't see how that is relevant at all?

Second, we only carry a few of there products now a days. All of which do not need huge brand name markup, have no moving parts and have no engineering to make. Feel free to pay $300 for a testpipe that has "Made in Japan" on the box. That $230 better add 30hp over the "lesser" chinese model.

Sh1t no.....this isn't for me.....this is my gift to the masses, because no one likes a Dealer Scab these days and buying authorized is the ONLY way to ensure market longevity......LMAO

I shop knowing fully well what is included with the dollars I spend and am willing to cut someone's throat on pricing on a certain item if they do not need to be involved in the sale, other than just passing the part onto me.

For parts that need support, I pay accordingly.

For things like test pipes, ICs etc, (items that aren't really "performance") for the average car it's just fine. I think most people here are referring to parts that had real R&D in the making. Coilovers for instance... you're telling me to buy some ksport or megan racing over Zeal or Tien?

The debate over intake piping will go on forever, so I'm not going to touch on that subject. But personally, I would rather pay a few hundred more for some items (exhaust manis for instance, since I've seen a few really shitty looking ones that were "off make"), when I KNOW they were built properly and have a solid warranty.

                        just my $0.02.

At first, I will have to admit, I was ready to shut down this thread cause I was a little worried about the motives behind the thread. But I have to admit I totaly agree. I've been burned so many times by parts stores who ordered me in certain parts (like a boost controller, my clutch and my suspension) and pretty much charged me a fair sized mark-up for just being the guys who ordered it then passed it across the counter and washed their hands. Then when I had any kind of problems installing or running the parts, they threw up their hands and walked away.
It might not seem like a big deal to be an authorized dealer or not, but a lot of time that comes with a certain amount of support and garantees you won't get from some of these other shops. I'm not saying that's always the case. The shop I go through now isn't an authorized dealer of most of the parts I get, but they're still spot on with the support and backing.

Just my $0.02 on the whole deal. Keep this thread civilized and I can see it doing some good.

I totally agree, we don't sell there manifolds, brakes suspension, or even piping kits. And 9 times out of 10 I recommend the better quality parts, unless its pointless to pay the markup (ie testpipe)

Coilovers, I have to disagree however. Stance and HSD coilovers have awesome quality and many people will tell you the quality far surpasses the price. People have been running them for years without problems and there customer service is impeccable. Not to say they are better or as good as Zeal, Ohlins etc as they are not. But for the price they meet the needs of the majority and do just fine.

Lets get back on topic here!

I change my mind weekly. I order and re-sell parts monthly.

I am desperate to get my car into paint as it looks awful and I need the rejuvenation to the project that only a shiny new paint job can bring to the table.

My shortblock is ready to go in for machining and I am working out a quote for the Head via Ztune as we speak.......

                              Anyways, back on topic.

                              -------------------------------------------------

Josh, thanks for being open minded about this......and NOT closing it.

For me, my motives for this thread's start ?

This thread will ensure that those who live in glass houses not dare throw stones....

I am tired of being accused of shoping the 'Grey' Market and being lectured about it.....so this list is as BLACK AND WHITE as it comes in terms of Authorized Dealers in North America with proof !

No single Reseller can be properly authorized to sell/support each and every top namebrand on the market - it's just not possible.
Between Manufacturer Supply treatys and agreements as well as Territory treatys etc, it's just NOT possible.

For those that don't understand the concept of a Supply or Sales Treaty, it's something like this:

Manufacturer A says YOU CAN NOT REPRESENT MY PRODUCT LINE IF YOU SELL/SUPPORT ITEMS FROM MANUFACTURER B or C.

Very basic 'Conflict of interest' in many cases, so to argue different, is just plain BS.

Let's keep this list going in a positive direction.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
