You should have no issue keeping them in the States if they are registered in Canada. However, I would be careful as to how often you drive them.
Then when the 25 year rule is over, you "legally" import them... the proper way from Canada to the USA (remeber, you will need to bring the car back to Canada to do this). No loop holes, no "sketchy" stuff... all legit. Then you will have no problems and can enjoy your cars for the rest of your life without fearing that you imported them incorrectly.
Its not that I don't want to do it legally, its the fact that the US gov't makes it impossable to do it in the first place. So much red tape, and money.
We are looking at buying an investment property in Canada, to see if we can go that route. Its going to take some time to make sure its a viable solution.
Good to hear. I just have issues when people try giving information based on what they read on the internet or "heard" from a friend. Glad you know what you're doing. The last thing I want to see is more Skylines getting crushed or confiscated by the US Gov.
bottem line you cant bring a product over the border thats not allowed.. Even if your not going to drive it, shoot it, Eat whatever..
Registering the cars in Canada and then driving them to the US is the simplest way of dealing with this.. Then when they are 25 years old you import them into the us..

Not sure about this site, but you always have to take info on boards with a grain of salt. It suck to have to police your own, but sometimes it is needed, so bad info does not become the norm.

I live in Sarnia, On, right on the US border with Port Huron, MI. About 40 min from Detroit.
I know the MTO office employee's here very well also.
Not sure where you're moving, but if there's anything I could do to help let me know.
