  • GTS-4 Questions....

Just a couple quick questions regarding a GTS-4....because I know nothing about them other than sharing our GTR Drivetrain.

    1) Are GTS-4's considerably cheaper than a GTR ?

    2) Are the RB20 Blocks different or the same in 2WD and 4WD applications ?

    3) Is all the drivetrain common between a GTR and GTS-4 ?

    4) If someone wanted to build a cheap AWD Race Car, why couldn't they start out with a GTS-4, Spend $1,000 on a RIPS 4WD 'Pan' Adapter and mount either an RB25 or RB30, rather than building a money-pit GTR/RB26 chassis ?

...de-badge the car and other than front fenders and interior, no one will ever know the difference on the track, right ? since you will replace seats anyways....as well as Standalone ECU.... ?

Wouldn't this save a whole crap load of cash for someone who didn't care about donning the GTR badge ? ....and was building a car from scratch anyways ?

    ...just a thought.

    1) yeah a nice GTS-4 coupe ( at least in toronto ) will run you 9-8000
2)both blocks are exactly the same
    3) those the drive train components arnt the same you can upgrade the GTS-4 to GTR its all straight bold up ( ie tranny, oilpanwith diff etc)
    4) thats why i bought mine

GTR tranny is stronger but you can change it.

Rear fenders as well. Gts-t fenders have issues fitting more than 255's in the back.

i heard a rumor that the block in the gts4 is a bit narrower than a regular gtst block. not sure if its true or not. A regular gtst oil pan won't bolt up to it from what i've heard.

i dont think the block is the different in dimensions,
and a regular GTS(T) oil pan wont blot up

i heard because of the diff etc needing to bolt up that it makes that gts4 block much more rare and hard to find.

I have a rb20 gts-4 in my gtst.. Had to use gtst oil pan, trim the pan, aka cut the baffles in the pan, to fit around the gts-4 oil pickup. And the extra braces for the transmission to block cannot be used...
