yeah, a lot of the stuff thats on ebay looks quite reliable actually. i would probably buy something like a manifold or a fmic or something off there, but i probably wouldn't buy something like a turbocharger or something like that.

ive seen alot of hate from some of the 300zx guys i know. seems that ams's reputation in that group is shite.

from all the post on gtrc they seems like a good quality company, but after seeing this and other threads ill probably never give them my money.

remember there are two different AMS.

AMS is Canada's premier tuner and parts developer/provider for Nissan Z vehicles (300ZX, 350Z, 370Z), Infiniti G vehicles (G35, G37), and the Skyline GTR (R32, R33, R34, and R35 GT-R). AMS also specializes in performance tuning and OEM servicing of all Nissan and Infiniti brand vehicles.

I'm saying, don't assume the one in question is the same as the other AMS which is known for producing great products/cars.

Its just a shame that well known and respected manufactures and tuners that put a huge amount of time, effort and money into prodcing top notch parts are being undermined by cheap and shitty knock offs. Well I was going to buy some new suspension parts for the GTR and i guess this makes my decision 1 company easier to make. Thanks to all those that produce **** and get called out. It lets me save my money for another day, and a better product.

I have no problems with AMS whether it be your store or the other AMS. I just stated a fact that happened. As for performance parts people make knock offs all the time.

Agreed, but whos gonna stop it...... No body. Me id rather buy a greddy intake manifold instead of a cheap knock off but that just me. Ill admit i picked up a IC from ebay for 200$ perfect fit and it was a Blitz Lm replica. So i saved 300$. There is no loss its just for people who prefer proper quality compaired to cheaper made but in turn gets the same thing

The Turbo Miata guys love their chinachargers... so much so they almost convinced me to buy one 8).. They have proven results with them.

$170 for a turbo, $140 for cast manifold... make a custom downpipe and lines from AN and a full kit for under $800 with proven results is hard to beat. Especially for a car I'm just going to **** kick. Haven't made the plunge yet because I'm a skeptic on Ebay **** but maybe, just maybe....

That's what they're talking about. The other AMS doesn't sell Z stuff by the looks of it.

Anybody care to share their experiences with the adjustable front upper control arms? (I was thinking of purchasing a set for a track car).
PM me if you do not wish to name and shame on the boards here. Thanks!

They fixed the problem with the constantly snapping locking collars, but there is too much tollerance between the inner and outer shafts, so they are never as solid as the should be.

In addition, the end shafts are the wrong size on one end, so you have to bend your control arm bracket to fit.

The single bearings on each end tend to cause the loosely assembled end shafts to work themselves loose as well.

You can get the same arm on ebay for half the price.

If you want a good upper control arm, take a look at the Powertrix arms here. AMS sent an old version of those to China to be (poorly) copied. The Powertrix version doesn't have those problems.

This is one example of how an ebay part "looks the same", but the engineering and quality is quite different.
