  • My new mats

Just though I'd post up a small review. These are the mats from Allan's group buy a little while ago for those who remember it.

This is a complete set of 5 mats. I only used 4, since I have aftermarket seats and the one behind the driver seat did not fit. Not needed for me, since there is a harness there anyways.

    Pros:
    -Cheap price
    -Sturdy stitching / mat quality
    -Seem larger than OEM mats
    -Hook on driver side
-Regular anti-slip grip under the mats make them stick HARD

    Cons:
-Summer grade mats, so they are a bit thinner than OEM spec.
-Have to take the time to mold them to the "hump" area close to the middle console so it looks nicer (this becomes a Pro after though, since they cover more)
-No hook on passenger side (takes 5 min to add one if you want, with the anti-slip grip it's not needed)

Overall I am extremely satisfied of the quality for the price paid. For my application it's the best of both world (summer / sunny day car).

I believe Allan still had 2-3 sets available, so if anyone is looking for cheap price / good quality mats PM me and I can give you his contact info.
I didnt have any mats, so this was perfect for me.

Man I could really use some floor mats. I have the original haggard ones that have been in there for like 18 years. They're pretty heavy, too D:

I want some of those fancy dmax checkered ones but I can't find anyone selling them locally

LOL yea well... what can i say, you don't post many pictures of your car! or did i just not see them?

in all honesty i regret selling that car! lol, it was running perfectly except for a few minor electrical problems i couldnt figure out, but thats because i didnt understand the issues...

from what i remember about that car, it had a very strong motor... did u ever have to make repairs or was it still going good? did u pull the engine ever to see whats inside? i always wondered if it had tomei cams (as it was supposed to) or a forged internals?

tell me about how its going, and what you've done to it!

i bought one stock, and its costing me every dime i have to make it the same spec as the one i sold you!! between you and me... ive dumped more than double what you paid me into my new car and still not as good... lol im kicking myself.

Nah I dont really put time into build threads hehe.

I haven't done anything major, just basic maintenance. I replaced the loud ass straight pipe it originally had with an HKS hi-power silent. I always prefered the single tip look anyways.

I sent you pics of the gauges I installed a while back, I guess you dont remember lol.

Haven't pulled the engine or anything, still running strong. I am a firm believer of "if it's not broken dont fix it", and I never intended on doing any more major modifications anyways. Compression tested last year at 158-162 across the board, so should be good for a while still. For me it's mainly a street car anyways.

I remember you had that electrical problem with tail lights and stuff. The first thing I did when I got the car was revert the lighting wiring to stock, and haven't had a problem in over 2 years now. They probably messed something up in the DRL wiring.

This summer I am going to be stripping the undercarriage / rockers to repaint and undercoat the crushed jack points (like most skylines are). Also ordered some new filters to replace to crappy HKS ones.

Could always use a paint refresher, but that might have to wait, since I'm buying a house...by myself! lol

Yeah I've been following your build thread, nice work man.

Haven't been to Montreal in a while, you should come down to Ottawa :P, maybe with the east meet if it still happening.

The hook is a plus, and all in all the mats looks great. It beats the faded, worn out oem i got...well some areas are more scuff than the others.

ya those mats DO look great! ....3 things though!

#1 i do come to ottawa quite often, once every couple months, ill shoot you a PM next time im headed that way, id love to see my new car side by side my old car! that would be really cool!!!!

#2 could you PM me where you got those mats from and how much shipped? they look so good i wanna get a set, mine are all worn out as you described.

#3 ever used those buttons on the steering wheel? im not sure if u knew this or not but i only realized about 3 months ago what those buttons were for... i THIIINKK... they are "boost scramble"... i also think the turbos in that car are steel wheel, non ceramics. try it next time your driving and your on boost press the button and see if it DOES allow the boost to go above 1 bar (if i remember correctly the boost was set for 1 bar on the AVCr eh?)... so ya boost scramble is momentary user controlled boost.

cause i know the buttons are connected, i saw the wiriing for it hooked up inside the steering column cover, i just never figured out what they were for!...lol

Yeah those buttons were for scramble boost, but I took out the wiring as it wasn't working properly (dont know if it wasn't hooked up properly or not). But I didnt' really care for that, so I just removed it. Maybe some day I'll fool around with it once more.

I never actually removed the intake piping to check the turbos, so I'm keeping it at 1 bar for now.

PMed you the info for the mats.
