+1 for abby, been there 2 times now and have passed with flying colours. all that was done to the car (rb20det) was the timing was knocked back and a cat was put on.

not too sure.. I was talking to an aircare tech on AIRCARE HQ !!!!!
He's quite certain that it's here to stay for a while...
and some other bad news,,, NOx will be included in the PAIL/FASS for any 92 japanese imports, not just and advisory,,, this will be put in place within a month or 2...

Meh. You could argue it forces guys like us to clean up our cars, and have cats and blah blah blah. But the truth is we all reset our timing, put our test pipes back in etc once we pass.

They also argue that the older cars that are better maintained because of aircare is a good thing, but they'd be quicker to die entirely, and owners would be forced to upgrade to newer, more efficient, less polluting cars over time.

On a completely unbiased stand-point I would say keep it running for a little longer since it isn't exactly costing the economy any money, and hundreds of people are employed by AirCare that would need new jobs... Which in case you haven't noticed, there aren't a whole lot of kicking around currently. The program is self sufficient, so it isn't costing us anything in taxes to keep it going, but having a decent majority of them on EI while they looked for new work would cost us in taxes.

Besides, what's $45 or w/e every two years. I spend more on lunch in a week.

If you really dont like aircare.. just insure your car for a place that doesn't have it..

Hope, Vancouver Island, Kelowna, Willians Lake,, where ever.. All it takes is an address and a walk to the nearest ICBC location..

(bonus you will get a break on your insurance costs as well.)

until I get into an accident or something,,, then aircare would be the least of my worries.

I figure if your car runs well, it passes.

You should tinker with some fuel cleaner/plugs/o2 sensors.

tell you a secret ,take a air pump and bolt it up to the car run a tube to the exhaust and let it run fresh air in to the expipe that will lower your level and raise your air level hence clean ex . if your wondering were you find one go to junk yard and take one off a mustang....ya i know no need to say it...it will let you pass and when your done take belt off of it and store it till next time .hope that helps if you need better details how to do this pm me

What's your take on engine cleaners that you add to your fuel tank? You see stuff that claims to "clean valves, reduce gunk, improve power and fuel mileage". I've always been dubious, though.

Seafoam actually seems to work! I used it on my 68 gmc w/355 cid and the idle is much smoother
