  • Tomei Parts Counterfeit Warning

Sadly, Tomei is the latest manufacturer to have their parts being ripped off.
They released an announcement this week regarding the situation. I will post it below.
As always, when purchasing aftermarket performance parts, make sure you protect yourself by only purchasing through authorized vendors.
TunerLab is an authorized vendor for all the brands we sell, including Tomei. We receive all of our parts directly from the manufacturers themselves, and this guarantees authenticity.
Beware of eBay sellers, and always remember, if the price is too good to be true, then it's not true!!
Also, please do not support any retailers or Chinese manufacturers who copy the design of Japanese manufacturers designs. These cheapskates who steal R&D from Japan are rotting the industry, and all of us will suffer in the end as the top end companies in Japan will fold, leaving us with no good designs and only ill fitting Chinese garbage in the end.

Please read this official announcement from Tomei:

Official release with pictures and comparison of fake Tomei parts, as well as eBay usernames of known fake parts sellers.

    TOMEI KNOCKOFF WARNING!!

This will be the 1st announcement of many to come.

In recent years the growing threat of knockoff copies coming from other companies and countries are growing. Regardless of the brand, company and product. Unfortunately Tomei is also a victim of this problem. Our engineers and our company has spent countless numbers of hours and money with the R&D for each and every prodcut we release. Only to see that there is another company selling the exact same coied product later. As you all know, this hurts us but also the industry

Sooner or later if nothing is done then this industry will have a questionable future. So with the first announcement we have put up information of what we have found lurking in he market in other countries of the copied product(s) that is also using our name on them. Most are not but rebranded these days.

Also, while I have your attention, here are Bride releases on copies of their seats as well.
Please remember as well, if you find Bride seats on eBay that are really cheap, they ar most likely fake and UNSAFE. The last thing you want to cheap out on are safety devices such as seats.

      And brakes!
There should be tombstone inscriptions saying 'I saved 60% on my Chinese knockoff brakes.'
Trouble is, the tombstones would probably be plastic, and the inscription would fade before many people read it.

this is actually the worst problem, there is no copyright laws over patents, designs and intellectual proprety at all in China,

which is how Chinese car manucfacturers are now building BMW and Merc copies,

and you can buy dvd copies in almost any store over there

with the manufacturing power they have over there, it is very worry-some,
ebay is overfilled with cheap knockoffs of japanese designs

            i had an argument way back about this with a friend;
he was defending cheap ebay chinese solutions, because he said, the parts looked the same so the did the same job
but beeing in engineering, i know that it is very easy the fabricate an item with the same exterior apperence, but the material will not be pure aluminium or stainless steel, it will be casted instead of forged, holes won't line up, but more importantly the part itself will never come close to the performance of the japanese R&Ded design

anyway, he still bought a cheap turbo manifold for his civic, which lastest less than a month, and ended up costing him a whole new engine

i would never cheap out on functionnal parts

looks like someone uses a fax machine to photo copy it.

Ew that's so bad. I can't believe the things people due. It's pretty tough to tell the difference even with pictures, imagine if there was no correct image. I bought a tomei type L FPR recently from Ztune but haven't opened the box yet. I'm sure it's genuine though.

yo i couldnt agree more, i build robots these days for the pharmaceutical industry (pill counters, labelers, and bottlers www.njmcli.com) and for a while our company was being hit hard from chinese manufactueres copying our designs... that was about 6 years ago... business is going quite well these days because our old customers who bought machiens from china... well lets just say their stainless steel wasnt exactly up to par... its RUSTING now...LOL!!!... yea, rusty stainless, so now all the customers who bought cheap are asking us to retrofit their machines with proper parts because you can-not have rust in the pharma industry.. it won't pass FDA inspection!

you get what you pay for man,
thats all there is to it!!

lol maybe if all the top jap companies prices weren't so out to lunch there wouldn't be a market for knock offs.

If there wasn't an eBay and a whole wack of kids with cars they can't afford, there wouldn't be knock off parts.
The Japanese companies are doing everything they can to stop copy parts, but there isn't a whole lot really that can be done.
