  • Adjusting coilover ; Does it really takes 4 hours !?

My friend told me it was very complicated to adjust the height of coilover because when you move to front, it might modify the back and then you have to go back and forth and can take A LOT of times.

I think he's just trying to be perfectionist.. Is it possible to adjust the height after lol? I would like to drop it by another inch.

what kind of coilovers do you have?? i can set mine up in about 40 mins...all that i do is jack the car up and unbolt the bottom of the shock and turn the body up and then bolt it back up...all you have to do is lower the body of the shock a half inch and it will lower it a half inch...thats if you have coilovers that can adjust the body length.

4hrs?? maybe if you are chilling and drinking beer and not doing much work.
Kyle is right..it only takes 1hr unless you suck at measuring or if your car is so slam that it takes 30mins just to jack it up.

If you are lowering all 4 corner the same height, you wont have to go back and forth because the weight distribution will be the same.

4 hours, nope. it takes me less than an hour to do all 4. Just jack up the car, take off the wheel, turn the 2 seats until the height you want, measure it, and make sure the other side is the same. doesn't take long at all. I think I swapped out my entire suspension in less than 4 hours, and was with using an awful spring compressor.. I'm not sure what exactly your friend is talking about.

This is a good thread as I was going to ask a similar question. So I move the bottom spring holders (for lack of a better or PROPER term) using the adjustment wrenches down to lower the car, and move them up to raise the car right?

I have TEIN HA with the tein wrench. Do I have to remove the wheel or not because Daryl said he did.

If you can reach the shock with your wheel on then go ahead! But I doubt it...

I think its a lot easier when the car is jacked up and the shocks wheels arent loaded.

Yes, you will need to remove the wheel in order to adjust it.
Yes, you just adjust the spring seats, or holders, up to raise the car, or down to lower the car.

Tein HA doesn't have the lower bracket to adjust the height.
The seat under the spring is for adjusting the preload, loosening it will lower the car but you will have no preload on the springs + you will lose your suspension travel.

Look at the picture, the seat will just release the tension of the springs, it is not intended for lowering the car.

There is a lower section of the shocks and by twisting it, it will adjust the length of the whole shocks WHICH is the only way to adjust the car height.

Well I just bought a set of the Tein SuperStreets for my car (Part Number# GSN14-B1SS3), pics here: http://www.rhdjapan.com/tein-super-s...-11499?nflag=1

These seem like the Flex ones you posted, I would move the lower spring mount which would compress the shock, hence lower the car, This seems like how it is person, and I inspected the shocks after reading your post.

the superstreet works the same as HA. It doesn't have the bracket to adjust the shocks length. You can only adjust the height via the spring seats which will affect the preload and shock travel.

notice the lower green part of the flex can move up and down to adjust the shock length. The HA/Superstreet however, cannot.
