Cat light also acts as a engine check light. Found this out when screw / diagnostic pot on side of ECU wasn't set to run properly and cat light was lighting up when hitting bump in road. It was switching between diagnostic, run.

Engine should run leaner, as aftermarket exhaust can raise boost level by 0.3bar for 3" or more (depends on size of exhaust). The leaner A/F ratio is where the extra hp comes from.

Exactly, our catalytic converters are so old now I highly doubt they are doing anything..

            Rip em out IMO.

Stanaz, I heard a r32 gts-t like that on youtube, very deep and throaty... Sounds amazing.

+ old vehicles like these didn't have great emissions to begin with especially cars like the Skyline. If you want to help the environment I recommend driving a smart car, and dedicate your life to creating environmentally friendly jet fuel lol

Thats true, a 2 liter (or 2.6 if your baller :P) straight 6 shouldnt be pumping out that much emissions anyway.

truth is the more there are people who think like you, the more is does kill the earth. That's why I only put 12,000km per year on both my cars combined while working 30% more days than the 40hour work week I take the bus to and from work.

I don't have 500hp, and have a Cat I know what you mean though. I burn pretty rich but the new/modern catalyzer I have does very well at removing the really bad stuff. when you're over 500hp, 10hp doesn't matter.

And I do my part... When I drive day to day its a 40mpg Corolla car pooling with 2 others, I recycle everything, never buy bottled water, use high efficiency appliances, Thermostat is on a timer, mow my lawn with non gas/electric mower... etc I could go on all day but when it comes to my car... building LS RX7 I don't see a point in trying to be green. As its only gets driven MAYBE 3000kms a year and its not exactly easy on gas lol.

And when you think of it, 1 car running no cat is better than a oil company dropping 206 million gallons of oil into the gulf of Mexico.

Car registries are about $1100 a year for full coverage for me, the bus is like $30 per month (gold pass so to speak, to go to work). You're right, the bus pollutes more than your car (uses low sulfur diesel) but when you have 43 other passengers with you, their 20-40 cars depending on if they were to car pool paired up or not, pulley much much more. Plus I sleep on the bus. In the end, I have less maintenance to pay on my car, I can enjoy my car on fun trips rather than the light to light commute to work, insurance is cheaper (when you don't drive to work, if claimed as such).

Here's a fact, based on what I see in my life... Most of my coworkers that drive in put close to 30,000km a year on drive back and forth to work alone. Then they have they're "at home" driving like groceries, movies, gas, vacations, visits, ect. So, if they pay $1 per L, just driving to work and they're car does 32km per gallon, they burned about $3,562.95 worth of gas. Then you add you're errands. Let's say they're going around like I do, putting another 12 ,000km (which is nothing), that's another $1,425.00 or so into your gas tank. Add maintenance like oil changes and stuff ( $70 or so per), it goes up so more.

This is just how I see it where I live and who I work with so I know we're all different. Some people simply drive to the nearest wallmart or video store for work and it would be less.

Either way, I technecally save $3500 (at the very very least) a year by not driving to work, though it's not saved as it goes right back into the car lol. The pollution is reduced by that much....

wellllll since I'm way off topic now, I'm sorry lol I just got off nightshifts haha.

I'm not green peace but I do my best to do the Rs, including reusing/recycling every I can around the house. It's not too difficult, just takes time to get used to. I drive a gas guzzling skyline but it's only 4000km a year with a catalyzer lol.

5 years on the bus (where I sleep, watch TV or movies on my ipod or read) paid for my engine haha I'm tired...

                            sorry.

I know you're good for it Braden and you're right about the car vs. the mexican golf but if the other somany miillions think like that, we're therefor worse than the oil spill... but IMO I still think the cat which cuts out the real bad shiet works good when the other million people around do/could do the same..

Like I said tho, I'm not green to the 9s, I work for an oil company ROFL! though we do our best to be clean in a dirty place. I guess even if I were the smartest retard, i'd still be a retard lmao.

In the end, removing the cat means you won't make a big different if you're alone doing it but you won't be waking up knowing you're making a real difference Unless you recycle condoms or something crazy hahaha
