Fuel Stabilizer

Hey guys winter is pretty much here and that means some of us will be storing our beloved cars. I have read it is better to use fuel stabilizer during long storage as gas might go bad.

Anyways I just wanted to know which brand that you would recommend and what your experience was with it.

Fuel stabilizer is pointless if you ask me. You're not storing the car for years here, just a couple months.

Your fuel will not degrade in 6 months. We dont have cheap gas up here like in the US. Just make sure to get your tank as empty as possible, then fill her back up with fresh gas before storage.

I have been storing cars for over 10 years and have never had any problems not using fuel stabilizer.

Agreed,it's not stored long enough for stabilizer and our winter gas is the good stuff.

I had my car off the road for 6 months or so and fuel was ok. But I would suggest putting some fogging oil down bores, like they do on racecars when stored in off season, remove cables from battery (hard to start after 6 months, needed a battery booster, even with fully charged battery).

Over 1 year I would worry about fuel in fueltank.

I've stored the car over a period of a year and yes, our high premium gas with octane boost smelled and ran like it was diesel when I went to start it again.
However, I've been storing my car every year during the winter for the past four anyways. Fuel will be fine as long as it's not too long, and oil will be fine as long as it's newer, clean, and you keep your car indoors, preferably with heat. Depends on where you live to of course. It get's pretty cold during the winter seasons on the praries and I've checked my oil in the morning outside before to find molases in my crank case.
Also, when you go to start your car for the first time, hook the battery up, maybe even throw a jump on it, unplug both sides of your ignition amplifier, and sit there and give the motor about a dozen cranks. Just enough to circulate the oil around the vital parts before you go cranking the beast up for real. Helps save things like piston rings, and turbo bearings and the like.

Will ethanol blended fuel make difference in the degradation of fuel? Cause here in Calgary, Husky provides 94 with 10% ethanol blend.
