I wholeheartly agree, especially new Nissans. I don't see myself in a new car, they're just too fancy, full of useless bells and whistles and cheap plastics. Just to cater to the current trendy lifestyle everyone watches on MTV. For some reason, that last sentence made me think of how Ken Block is surfing the trend with his DC shoes and unbroken-in baseball caps to Colin McRae and how utterly larger than life awesome he was.

I do find an all gunmetal 370Z attractive (there's one travelling from Moncton to Bathurst from time to time) but it's just so damn huge! I also hate the chunky fenders of all the current nissans...

Basically it all went down the drain when they went bankrupt in 2000 and bought by Renault. Pre-2000 Nissans were the s***. There's a reason why B13s are still manufactured and sold in Mexico (maybe not for flattering reasons though )

I own a 09 G37X coupe as a daily. I say FM platform+ Attessa+VQ37VHR is a blast to drive even works great in the winter. For 350Z I would only get 03,04 or 07+. The 05-06 with the uprev motor (300hp)has the notorious engine oil consumption problem on the MT equipped model. I read some people start having problems at 10-20k. And the engine will consume 4-5 quarts in 1500km!!! Nissan's explanation is when using engine brake it creates too much back pressure so the piston rings start to fail... LOL With the age of the car I would stay away from those since those cars are outta warranty period and it will be very costly to replace or rebuild the motor. The AT is all right because it does not get the uprev motor. But I think you would want a MT for the 350Z. The 07+ has the HR motor which is superior in almost every way. If you want a G35 coupe. 05 till 08 got the same oil consumption problems on the MT model because of those up-rev motors which is a shame because the 05+ got the much nicer interior.

Overall the Z or the G are very nice Vehicles. But I still think it could not replace the driving experience that my GTR gives me. I would say keep the car since it will not worth much when you sell it and difficult to sell. Just get the Z to have fun with it. You can also consider the older 300zx TT which is faster than 350Z and also a lot of fun to drive.

I tell you this because I want you to believe me when I tell you that owning this car, especially used, is quite expensive. So you need to think about what you gonna do with the car.

If you use 350Z as your commuter, the maintenance on it gonna be pretty high, and you will have skyline on the other hand to worry about. If you still commute with your skyline after you bought a 350Z, then I suppose you want to do some mod on ur Z. Just so you konw, parts for that machine can get quite expensive, if you are looking into some serious tuning.
That`s just my 2 cents. Goodjob that you are thinking 1 yr ahead and good luck with watever you want to do!
Similar platform, except for SOME strange reason, the Z didn't come with the 04 G35's countless service bulletins. 04 was by far THE WORST year for the G35. Transmission issues to electrical issues, anything from A-Z to make your no-longer-warranteed vehicle a real joy to drive. 350Z did not have half the issues, and had much more developing time (2 year headway) atop the G35. 350Z stock transmission isn't the greatest thing in the world, but i'm not sure about 2004+, could have changed. Either way, 350z is a nice car to have fun with. There's a turbo'd one around here, and although its not a skyline in terms of power or agility, its a daily driver sport coupe with class (HRE's? )

Enjoy it when the time comes! Keeping the 32 may be a good idea. I've become skeptical of the governments choice to ban cars like they've done in quebec, if that follows suit, perhaps you'll never get the chance to own another one again!

New cars are great! I love having a new car for a DD in the winter, never have anything to worry about! If you can afford it, i don't see why it's not a good idea?

370Z is the ugliest car i have ever seen.

keep the car, you will regret selling it. most people wont pay much for an auto n/a knowing theyll have to pay for a new motorset. the amount you will get for it (probably in the ballpark of 3k) will not come close to what it means to you, and that small amount of money wont mean that much in terms of a Z.

i wouldnt reccommend selling to some kid with his N chances are he will try to FnF the skyline and your former baby will either be in intensive care or off to the scrap pile

My heart is still on the 350z but I still love my Skyline. We've been thru too much together. So no, it's staying. But I do appreciate the input.

The 350Z is an excellent platform. I had the chance to drive one with a few mods (9 lb flywheel, ECU dyno tuned, stripped interior, full exhaust and 285 Hoosier A6's all around) at the Packwood Solo 2 a few years ago. The car was amazing and while I only came in 4th, the owner of the car who I was co-driving for won the BSP class. And this was in a big field of cars.

350's are easy to make fun and fast. I say go for it and try something new. And they can be had for a dime these days. Either a 350Z or get an AP1 S2000 and throw a Kraftwerks Rotrex supercharger kit on it. Those are my votes.
