  • Trailering a Skyline Stateside

I found a shop that I want to do all of my chassis work and i'm curious if I will run into any problems at the border if I am trailering my skyline down to the usa.

I don't want to make it to the bored only to be turned away.

Has anyone here trailered their skyline down south?

I think you need a temporary repair form. Where it gives the shop a limit on time your car can be there for them to work on it, so it doesn't get "lost" in the states.

With everything currently happening around "skylines" in the US, it'll be a pain to try and explain to them that you're getting your car repaired there instead of doing it here.

When I went to Formula D last year, we were 3 skylines crossing the border and they inspected everything, making sure we weren't selling our cars down there. They made sure formula D was that weekend, checked our hotel.. everything.

wow you guys have it rough over there. i see people drive and trailer skylines and other rhd's across the borders all the time with no problems. they ask the basic questions and let us go on our way.

You shouldn't have a problem at Coutts, I have driven through there many times.

ive drivin skyline through coutts many times as well. trailer is a different story.

Just have all your plans in order with phone numbers to make it all look legit.
I took a cefiro to Portland to get engine work done and they took fiber optic cameras in every little hole and even searched inside my socks. To make it 100% legit, you would need to get a temporary import bond from DOT out in DC. That takes time to process and cost money. id try to do the trip before I did something like that.

in eastern canada, RHDs are a LOT less common. Hence, the uncertainty from law enforcement due to lack of exposure.

LOL is that a joke? You know quebec and ontario are "eastern provinces". There are a lot of RHD in eastern provinces. Maybe even more than the west.

There is a reason RHD is banned in quebec. The french started pumping them out faster than an omish women pumping out kids. And because of the ban the car have just spread around eastern Canada. Montreal has a port too so most of the cars here(eastern canada) came from Montreal not Vancouver or Alberta.

The container still came to Shore here..

I dont think they shipped the Containers through the Panama canal and then around..

                          But thanks for coming out..

This is getting way off topic.

Ya but your making it sound like EVERY RHD car comes to Western canada, driven for a year or two, and if you guys are kind enough (only after your done with them), You send it here. Just because it makes a stop there dosent mean it belongs and origionated from there.

Also your forgetting the fact that some montreal cars (well the ones I talked to anyways) came from the middle east. So I dont think they made a trip around the world just to stop at the vancouver port.
