The cage is in right now its just not bolted in yet im having a hard time fitting the top bar near the windshield which crosses from one side to another.
Cool!
As for legality, I know in Ontario you aren't allowed to modify/remove factory driver restraints. This may be an issue with a well fitting cage as the main hoop might cover up the mount points/travel path of the factory seat belts.
Personally I would make sure I had a harness in a car with a roll-cage (keep your noggin away from the tubing). But this means you would legally be required to use both the harness AND the factory belts at the same time or you run the risk of getting a ticket for not having a seatbelt on. There are companies that make DOT approved harnesses, but again it still goes against the carpet rule of "no modifying or removing factory restraints". Honestly though, unless you're already getting pulled over for being a complete ****... a cop shouldn't give you too hard of a time.
Little side note:
I would not have a harness in a car without a roll cage or at least roll bar (car crumples and you're stuck in an upright position.. not a good day)
I would not have a racing bucket in a car without a harness (factory 3 point won't hold you probably when it's being used around a true bucket)
It was built so its not in the way of the factory restraints, the windows will be tinted and im going to try making a low key quiet exhaust for no unwanted attention.I drive like a grandma on the street anyways.
You can cover it up with foam tubing (the insulation one, I forget what it's called).
Although it wont really help if you're in an accident and you dont have a helmet/harness, it makes it a bit less unconfortable when you mistakenly hit your head on it. :P

There is some really good info/opinions on roll cages. I think we should take the info from this thread, make new thread and sticky it. For all the safety stuff. Mainly Cages, Seats, and harnesses.
I think safety is important enough to have a sticky so i don't have to search 10 threads to read up on it.
Just my thought.

I agree there is alot of good information in this thread!
Here's a few pictures of my cage.
I'm not a big fan of the front /dash bars...Let me know what you think!
As you can se in the last picture its missing the top bar going from one side to the other
Looks nice, I'm sure any race car fab shop could make you some new front bars that go through the dash that would look better and be safer IMO. That is of course if you're willing to cut your dash.
