  • clutch is going??? help quick!

ok so i have a hcr32 rb20 skyline, has a gtr clutch in it. dont know how many kms.. but its been great so far. at times it doesnt go in reverse or first perfectly, but i can go a full month of daily driving an no problems. the pedal is stiff and kicks back hard, but for the past 2 weeks it hasnt been kicking back as hard and now the past couple days its barely going in 1st gear, i have to double clutch most of the time. and the first 3 inches of pushing the clutch in theirs nothing their, only about 1-2 inches of pressure...

so does this sound like my clutch is wearing out? but the weird thing is that as soon as im rolling shifting into any gear no matter how quick i do it theirs no problem. no grinding and it doesnt slip.

so please please any info let me know. if i need to stop driving it tell me.and what should i start looking into purchasing?

Sounds like a slave cylinder to me. Get under the car and gently pull the Slave cylinder boot away from the slave. If there is fluid in the boot, Bingo its leakin. You can purchase a replacement or a rebuild kit.
The master cylinder could either leak down the firewall or leak air past the plunger.
If u replace your slave, bleeding your lines is not fun. It should to be bled at every connection and nipple from your master to your slave. That is the only way me and many others get all the air out. Or just get rid of that dam clutch loop.

i never knew what most of this stuff was. If you do take it to a shop, and they are a good shop, ask them if you can join them under the hoist and if they can show you what stuff is and how it works. They could show your the clutch master cylinder, and the slave master cylinder and stuff like that

If u have long arms you can reach the slave without a jack. Just park car over a indent in the ground(small ditch, gulley or man sized pot hole) or drive up on a couple of screwed together 2X6s and look under the driverside of the car at about the same spot as the the climate control inside your car. On the side of the tranny you will see a thing(slave cyl size of a small fat cigar) that has a finger/plunger that points toward the rear that is pushing up against a lever(Clutch fork) that goes in side the tranny. The boot we want u to check is what the finger/plunger goes thru on the slave cyl. Just gently pull the boot back from the slave, any fluid in there equals failure.
Thats the best i could explain it.
And the best way to learn is after u research is to just DO IT. That sounds so 90's. Anything mechanical can be fixed on any car, its rust that is almost impossible to cure.

You should also check the cluch pedal for damage, the cluch slave CYL on a GTR has a booster to stop the pedal from being to hard but a GTST dose not,
so when a heavier cluch is installed to a GTST the pedal can brake metal.
