  • Should I sell my GTST???)-:

Bought a GTSt type M last fall. 120000km previous owner had it in Toronto for 4 years

He said he changed ,ignition coils, fuel pump, power steering, new clutch

This spring I had misfires, running lean, tranny's making noise and the steeringing is shifting to the right when I drive.

I think his fixes where with used OEM parts.

I upgraded to Splitfires,Walbro,HSD's and got more to fix

now debating to sell and finance and import a GTR

I like the GTST 2wheel drive, parts seem to be more affordable and easy to get for daily driving than a GTR.
But too many repairs on this one.

Everyone I've talked to that bought from Rightdrive has not had any major issues and is having fun upgrading.

    What do you think?

That's too bad, if I were you I'd try to figure out what is causing those problems and see if it's going to be very expensive to fix or not. Who knows, your problems might be fixable with something as minor as a tuneup and a wheel alignment... well we can hope for that at least.

If you find the repairs are too much, I'd put up a feeler fs ad to see how much you could get for it. One thing that I don't like to see is tons of money being put into a car that isn't going to pay you back. I recently had a buddy with a 90s grand prix put in $5k+ fixing up the motor, when he could've bought a better condition model for less than that. Anyhow, it just all depends on weighing what everything will cost.

I'd also be careful about financing one of these cars, keep in mind any 15+ year old cars will come up with problems, especially performance oriented ones like skylines.

If you're struggling with affording or repairing a GTS, a GTR can be worse and more expensive.
        No build thread.

Doing your own work is so satisfying, too. But like others have said, if repair costs on a gtst are hurting, a GTR will be worse. Don't disregard gtst's either, there are some monsters out there.

I personally lovvvvve my GTS. When I first picked her up I wanted to sell and pick up a gtr. But now that my car is fairly heavily modded. I will never look back. A light RWD chassis is way to much fun... And if you do all your own work you will save mad dollars. And that's cash that can be put to more parts. Good luck with the project.

Power to weight to traction ratio baby. AWD has no equal, I can mat it in an off camber curve at .9 bar in 2nd gear and not have to pucker my arsehole so tight that if I farted a dog could hear it in Portugal.

Being actively involved in your repairs by doing things yourself can save you over $100,000 in a lifetime (I know, I've done it, and I'm only 40).

GTRs are awesome. Once i sold my gts-t and got a r33 gtr, i could never look back at the gts-t. Nissan put way more time and money into perfecting the gtr over the gts-t. omg you don't know what your missing.

financially speaking, gtst will be cheaper on the pocket book and doesn't need that much mod to reach a stock gtr for hp. once you come to love your gtst and come into some money, just remember the dude that mod his gtst to 1000hp and broke records...hey if you can afford to go to a gtr by all means, but if you can't, the gtst is one hell of a backup.

Bah, an old crappy car will cost you the same money whether it's a GTS-t or a GTR, the only thing about the GTR is there are more things to trouble shoot. I know of a guy that spent almost a G on just replacing heater hoses and other minor stuff on a GTS-t because he had a shop do it. A GTR would have cost exactly the same.

The beauty thing about the R32 GTR is, if you want to have some fun and hang the tail out like in a GTS all you need to do is disable the ATESSA and drift till your heart's content. When you want to show a Porche the effing door, turn it back on again.

Don't think that I am completely biased because I have a GTR, I know full well that GTS-t's are tearing it up and making alot of exotics look stupid on the tracks of Japan, Australia and the UK. The chassis is well sorted and solid. A GTR though, especially on the street, is a whole new ball game of superior traction. You really need to pay attention and not let your desire to impress people get you into trouble. You can push it MUCH farther in a $10,000 GTR than you can in any exotic in the $50,000 to $80,000 range (if you have good tires).
