  • Are my hope to high?

I'm realy thinking about getting a Skyline next spring (big pay raise comming early next year) but I want to start to test the water before so I can prepare.

So here my question do you think it's resonable to hope to find a R33 GTR V-Spec in the sub 20K range? To be more precise I'm thinking about a car in a good general shape with a good engine and as little rust as possible but I wouldn't mind slight body damage that I could fix with my friend. And also I live in Nova Scotia so I don't need a e-test just a safety inspection. I know there are some importer on this forum but I'm not yet ready to commit myself to spend the dought right now so that why I didn't ask them directly.

    Thanks

Wait an extra year, save more money and get an R34 instead....that's what I would do.

Well make that 2, since the GT-R only came out a year later.

yah for sure what darkcaporal said, if you got 20 ish grand to dump on a 33 right now, hold onto that and save another 20 grand for 2014 and get a nice example of an r34 GTR. If you cant resist the urge to buy a skyline now, buy a cheaper 32, hell even buy a gtst r32 just to tie you over for a bit. I personally wouldnt spend 20 grand on an r33 because I would way rather put that towards an r34.

I'm more looking for a 33 anyway because I find the 34 'too much' and I want to have a somewhat sleeper and nothing say more racer than a 34 and I don't want to go around in a cop magnet..

It's never too much for an R34 lol...i'm pretty sure I speak for a lot of people by saying that R34's are PRICELESS!

no, your hopes are not too high.

my advice: spend a little extra and get one in 'above average' condition. i think you'll thank yourself later.
              oh hai!

The one thing that I always say is do not cheap out. Buy something better than average, especially body wise, and you will save so much more in the end, have less headaches and be happier!

Truth has been spoken. Several times in this thread actaully! Save your pennies for the good one!

What Daryl said. I learned my lesson once or twice.
I bought a 180sx way back that was over priced but was super clean. Loved every minute of it and no headaches.

I later bought a GTR, that although was not below average cleanliness wise, was against my better judgement and I hated the damn thing. Nothing but problems.

My Supra was a bit more than most people would have paid for an auto TT but I never had any problems with it in 2 years of owning it. It was nothing but a pleasure.

No. Absolutely not. With 20k You can get a very VERY good condition R32.
As for R33's, depending on where you buy from you will either get an average R33 GT-R Or a slightly above.

Example of an IMMCAULATE R32 GT-R in your price range:
1991 Silver Skyline R32 GT-R - SOLD You will be sorely missed girl :'(

If you know nothing about cars, buy an overpriced "clean" one. If you know what to look for (you still can through really good pics) you can get your hands on a really good R33 GTR for about $15,000. Rust really isn't an issue with most cars, any car that has rust was sourced from northern Japan and the importer should have known better. I've brought in 3 cars now from south of Tokyo and all three were absolutely perfect underneath, even the truck I got from the Norita area (mostly farms).

Be patient, I looked for my car for over a year. I paid WAY less than I should have (and from an importer to boot) and not only is it mint underneath but with all the mods it had done, nothing was hacked. The interior is kinda pooched but I didn't care, the car is going to get gutted and caged sooner or later.

                            Jon.
