  • Value and depreciation

So I have this 91 GT-R I'm currently getting info on, but in general what is a value of one of them?

I ask because I might only buy it for a few months as when school starts it might be time to sell it. (Its summer and I really want to enjoy everything now, and to experience the Skyline before I get dedicated again :|)

How much of a loss would I take if I were to purchase one for $8k? Selling at the end of August.

This might even be a stupid idea... but I think of it as a gift to myself. And yes, I know its going to be hard to get rid of- I might fall in love LOL

It all depends how many on the market are available and what someone is willing to pay.
You could end up making money out of it. Enjoy it now, cross that bridge when you get there.

If you bought it for 8, you may expect similar or a bit less. But good luck trying to sell in august.

Anything is better than my current car... 1999 CRV. And so, the owner claims everything is in perfect running order but are skylines expensive to maintain, and how reliable are they in general. I would be keeping it as close as stock as possible.

This is a fairly stupid idea. Skylines are not typical vehicles and don't sell as easy and quick as you may think. In essence you are gambling that you will sell it before/for school. What if you don't or can't sell it?

P.S If you're looking at a GTR for $8000 and asking what the value of a 91 GTR you probably should not buy one. Find the "I'm young and want a skyline" thread. It will give you a fair bit of insight of what to expect especially since $8000 might lead to much more in expenses.

What do I know though, I've only owned a GTS-T for 4 years now. Stayed away from the GTR for the time being because of school and costs that can be associated with owning one.

I read up on it. And yeah, I'm pretty sure you get what you pay for so I dont think I will pull the trigger. And yes, selling might be difficult too. I guess I shouldn't rush things either. I knew the value roughly on asking prices here, and 8k did seem low, and with some help from another member I figured out why that was the case. The car is a ticking time bomb and will blow any time soon since the last owner was terrible.

Put it this say. I bought two blown engines skylines GTR for about $6500 in total. Asking price on ea was aroud $6k kijiji. Broke stupid kids that needed $$ for school. I can up looked at them offered $3000 cash in hand deal is only good for 15 minutes for one. The one kid accepted it. The other one I got for $3500 cash in hand. I dropped used engines in them, new this and that under the hood and sold them for a tidy profit.

Yes Aug is a great time to (lowball) buy a skyline.
