This. R34 at auction in grade 5 right now selling for 3.9mil yen (Starting price). Average for that condish is around 5.6 mil+ Yen. Which is into the 50k CAD range. Plus at LEAST $2k for import fees, taxes... You're looking 40k easy.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to buy one up before they become legal in Canada, although you'd have to deal with storage fees and what not. . It'll be interesting to see what happens, but I could see the demand here driving prices up even more. Remember that there were only around 5,000 r34 gtrs built as opposed to the 40,000+ r32s.

Sellers/Dealers will sell that to get maximum profit specially the first year it becomes available...i'd wait a year or two and see how if price goes down a bit...but I highly doubt it. R34 is the GEM of the GTRs', it's priceless.

My bet is the price won't drop at all. Look at the Supra RZs as an example. Essentially the mother of all Toyota's (excluding the LF-A of course) and they've hardly dropped a penny in price since they were available for import.

Now the question is... Is 40-50 k too much for a 34, noooooooooooooope! Definitely worth it IMO! I hope to buy one a year ahead of time. Should be good.
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

I assume that R34 GTRs are as cheap as they will get RIGHT NOW. Legal in Canada soon, HUGE price hike. Legal in the US after, another huge price hike.

dont forget, there were less than 11,000 of these cars ever made. Think of how many are owned by shops, how many were crashed, how many are track cars, how many have been crushed, how many have been bought by 'lifers' that will never sell.....and you have a very small number left, that the entire world wants. The price will steadily go up, like the C10s.

Good luck is all I have to say.
                      Victory is on the horizon..

I'm not sure that the price will jump so drastically when they become legal for import into Canada. The Canadian auto market is very small, and then when you consider the number of people willing to drive a right hand drive car, it becomes a sliver of that. The market for these cars in UK, the gulf emirates, and within Japan will likely be the main driving force behind their resale value.
With that said, i still think they will be quite expensive, based on their rarity & allure, and as stated above will likely go up, rather than down over time.

Oakville said it. Right now is about as cheap as they're going to get. If you want one, buy it at auction now, find a place in Japan to store it for a few years, then get 'er shipped over when they're legal.

How do you figure the 200 or so that will make it to Canada will cause a huge price hike??
