  • Coilover Question. (Megan Coilovers. Thoughts/Concerns??)

Alright so i'm in the market for new suspension for my R32 GTS-T and I am looking at spending around $1000. I was looking at the Megan's and am just wondering if anyone on here is running them and if they like them? I have heard good and bad about them but i wanted to see what everyone on here thinks.

Also if there are any other good brands to look at around the $1000 price range please let me know.

    Thanks!

You'll get what you pay for. I ran some Megans for a while and on smooth tracks they worked just fine. Damping was adjustable and I had some fun learning first hand the effect of front and rear damping on handling, but they were entry level at best.

Okay, I don't really track my car. Its more of a daily driver so they might work.

      Thanks for the input!

I have been running Megan's on my car since day one. They definitely are great bang-for-your-buck coilovers. The adjustable dampners can actually become extremely stiff or soft. Overall, I see no reason to change them, I'm happy with them.

HSDs are also highly recommended for that price range. I'm running a set of HA's on my car and they're awesome for daily driving. Monotube damper and 16 way adjustable. At full soft they're already stiffer than stock suspension but no less comfortable.

PBM, Stance, tein, HSD, circuit sports, k-sport, godspeed are all super cheap. They're all just entry level coilovers, so they won't be amazing, but for just lowering your car and cruising around with better handling than stock then they'll do the trick. I've heard tons good things about PBM. If you're willing to spend a few hundred more look into DMAX. They're still really cheap (price wise) but its what Naoki Nakamura and a couple of other D1 drivers use. I've heard they're amazing on the street and track.
Looking for cheap parts? supguyex (Jon) is parting out his car. Good prices, good guy.

True. Powered by Max makes very robust coilovers for only $1000. If they had applications for the GTR I would have definitely went with PBM instead of HSD.

Thanks for all of the info guys! Yea i've been looking into the PBM's and have heard a lot of good things about them. I think i've narrowed it down to the PBM's or the Megans.
