  • little fog light project, what you think?

alright so i got this idea in my head months ago, and finally only the past week i have started working on it. not done yet, but i really hope it turns out the way i had imagined it.

please no one bash my idea to hard, its just an idea. if it looks stupid i can remove, but i thought somewhat "unique" is always a good idea.

i have a gtst sedan, and always wanted a gtr bumper and lip, but financially ive redirected my focus on the gtr lip alone, i finally got my hands one and it arrive to day from another member on here and i cut it in half and start trying to make it fit, ( gtr lip is about 3 inches to long compared to gts bumper )

and then my other idea was to add some fog lights, in the lip. ive had the fogs in my garage for months, and finally wired them up to a toggle switch under my dash. and this is the progress so far

(sorry pics suck, camera is dead, so iphone 3 ftw)

so i know it looks super stupid and ugly in those pics, i took the fogs off rigth after the picture, its just an idea of whats going behind the lip.

these are just ebay fogs for a mazda 3 my buddy got me because of the work i was doing on his car, and knew about my plan. so free is decent.

and tonight after work i got the lip from ups and started working on it...

so thats it just sitting their, this third pic is after its cut. little seam in the middle. not attached though.

so thats where im at so far, i will paint body colour, just need a custom spray paint can made up, and everything was closed tonight, so i just used what i had in the garage. flat black for now. and then the fogs will be going at the far end of each side of the lip peaking through the whole. so when their off, they will be pretty much not noticeable, but then turn them on and should look pretty cool i think... ( for sure needs more low one day when i find the right coilovers, and this summer ill be making my custom sideskirts and rear lip ideas to match the same distance to the ground as the front. )

just really confused as of how i will get those lights to sit still. gotta make something, thats probly what ill dream about tonight lol.

what u think? too ricer? lame? ugly? good potential?

pretty sick, I would have just left the lip the original colour though, I think it looks good from the pics. As for the fog lights it might be easier to just mount them where the OEM ones used to go right above the intercooler piping. Seems like too much of a hassle to incorporate them into the bumper/lip and it would suck if you messed up and ruined the bumper in the process. Just my opinion though but I still think its a cool idea. BTW nice work on cutting out the inside of the bumper to fit the fmic, mine looks like **** compared to yours hahaha

damn, this is quite a big difference in hight. i drove around today, no problem anywhere on the roads, but i always pack backwards up my driveway... and well that didnt go so well since i forgot about the lip :/ i broke 1 zap strap. but i dont think ill forget again. and with the snow outside i cant hear if im craping or not. summer will be easier to hear.

and i cant really park in the street like i do in the summer kuz right hand drive means i open the door into a snow bank..

anyways. im going to home depo tomorrow and buying some metal brackets and will attempt to bend them the way i need to support the lights, and pl the brackets to the back of the bumper. might work.

      more updates to come

haha, i cant make it ghetto! gotta keep it clean. i just picked up brackets tonight. so in the next few days ill be working on it. the only pain in the a$$ is that i have to clue the brackets, so i have to give them time to dry :/

im not good with patience hahah

alright here pretty much the final product, im adding alot of pics, to show how it came all together, and it is somewhat ghetto, i didnt even have nippers to cut metal, and no vise grip to bend metal properly. but i think its alright. i will have to redo some stuff, but i just wanted them in tonight to see if i like it.

            tell me what u think.

i still need to adjust the angle, their pointing all over the place and other stuf i want cleaned up, but i think you get the point.

i should get take pictures with an actual camera. someday.

anyways i think its pretty unique. cost like 40$ for everything. so pretty cheap.

Actually looks nice, good job! However, did you ever have the gts bumper vents in mind? A friend of mine who previously owned a 32 managed to fit fogs in there even with intercooler pipes in the way.
