  • Subwoofer in gtr?

im curious if anyone has any good sound system in thier gtr. if so post pics?
im looking to install a subwoofer mybe just a single 8 inch or so is fine..its just so hard to decide beacause of the small ass trunk the gtr has..i mean u put a box in there and half the space is gone.put 2 speakers and theres no trunk left..
has anyone here make anything custom? how well does it work for you?
i love music but i need some trunk space also..what would be the best route to go with? single 8 inch? or couple smaller ones?or even 1 12 inch..dunno..inputs?

I pulled the spare tire out of my r33 and built a custom box in the floor. Bought a 12" pioneer shallow sub and threw it in there. Looks good and sounds pretty good too. Also still have pretty much the whole trunk if i need it.

Just get a 10" sub with smal box, mount the amp to the back and bracket it down in the corner. Will only take up about 30% of space

Two 10" subs, bassworx sealed box polly filled for $26, two amps mounted and everything secured. Lots of space still and louder than most system out there.

you can get the same fullness and punch out of a 10 as you can out of a 12 or even a 15. Just find one with a nice large magnet and a high rms wattage.. I personally have only been able to make 8s work in pairs. The center mount in the spare tire is the best idea IMO. Pretty low cost, and takes up no room. just take a crash course in fiber-glassing and go to town =]

I hated having the battery in the trunk...but a single 10 is all you need.

The only use for a stereo in a GTR is to plug your knock sensors into it so you can monitor knock while you drive

single 10 in a sealed box off to the side. i find that because the skylines have no folding rear seats a good 10 does the job very well. i would never get 2 12s or 2 10s. every single person i know that has 2 12's system sounds like garbage.

I made mine myself. Buy a 3/4" mdf, some pl3 glue, wood screws, jig saw, black or gray carpet, spray glue and i think thats about it. Take your measurements and design a box first, then go to home depot or something and ask them to cut it for you. It will save you time and you wont have to deal with cutting all the pieces. If you want to make a nice cover on top in the shape of a trunk floor, make it out of cardboard first, make sure it fits 100% the way you want it to fit before marking it on the wood. You will also have to cut it in half somewhere close to the middle to make it 2 pieces. One big piece will not fit through the hole of the trunk.
After everything is cut, cover it up with the carpet and youre done!
Regarding your spare, if you are planning to upgrade your brakes in the future to something bigger, that spare wont work anyways, so toss it out and build a box in there. Thats what i did..

2 x10" or 2x12" does not sound like garage. It comes down to the install and how much time you wanna spend on it. Things like what gauge of wire. What size of box in relation to the actual recommended volume size of the subs. Down to the types of sub and amp combinations, wirring them in series or parallel to accommodate the rms power ratings for both sub and amp/ the same goes for speakers matching the power ratings and using good amps.

Single ten works well. But there is no way it sounds Better than 2x10" set up properly. I have had a single ten in my skyline. It was great. But when I amped the speakers and put in nice components. It was almost not enough. So if your not amping the speakers then don't do two subs!

Comes down to wheatear you wana great sound quality/ type of music you listen to, to how much weight you want to have in the back as well.
