This video shows how the solder points in a Nissan / Subaru mass air flow sensor can break over time, leading to random/intermittent problems. Stalling, buc...

i think this explains everything prefectly that i needed to know right? lol

the video is *one of the common problems with the MAFs.

To crack it open you need to remove the sealant around the square cover and pop it off.
There should be a copper cover on the inside, the boards and everything are in behind that.

So , I've had both these problems, with the maf it just wouldn't rev past 2500 or so but with the boost leak it would seem to run fine, would rev perfect in neutral but under load it wouldn't rev, and really smelled like gas, the maf was an easy fix, popped the cover off, soldered all the little connections( dont have a solder gun, just heated the tip of a screwdriver) put cover back on and silicone. Have had no problem since

                hi magular.
is the car still on its original fuel pump?
is the car running on a standard ecu?
what is the base timing set at?
when is the last time the car got a fuel filter?
has the car exibited the problems you described on short runs or is it only when driving for a long time {more than 20 km}?
does the car exhibit these problems when it is cold or only when it is up to temperature?

-fuel pump yes, but i plan on getting a new pump maybe next month if money allows ( walbo 255lph, 95$ stock in town )
-ecu is a Mines stage 1 ecu. but ive heard quite often that i should get a stock ecu...
-timing... i have no idea, i dont even know how to check or anything, but it has a new belt and the previous owner is the mechanic at the shop in town, and im assuming timing would of adjusted properly then but again, i dont know
-i changed fuel filter a month ago.
-it happens whenever, short or long doesnt matter, so both.
-and i think its so bad cold that i never dive it cold, i let it idle for 5 mins everyday, but recently it turned off while idling... twice one morning in the 5 mins. i was like, awesome.

so i soldered my maf back together and poly-urathane it back together and my car starts! so i actually soldered it right, but who knows if i fixed the problem, maybe... and i put the new coolant temp sensor and reset the ecu so it notices the new sensor.

now im working on the 02 sensor. hope i can finally get it that stupid thing out and switched.

so if so, my car might run much mintier tomorrow lets hope. if not then im putting back in the stock coils and going to try n clean them with whatever that spray can is called.

and lets hope for better gas millage!

                    thanks for everyones help.

FPR might have a boost leak. This happened to my gtir, when ever I'd boost, it would hit a wall so to say. After I reconnected the FPR, I was faster than R33 gtr's again

sorry ive never asked before but whats FPR? lol. i should know.

but anyhow, i got to drive my car for 35 km around town, and NOT ONCE did it do what it usually does... so maybe i successfully soldered my maf and maybe thats what the problem i had all along... but ill be driving it about 80 km tomorrow, so that will give me a better idea of i legit fixed it.
