Do you run a straight through exhaust? If not the rsr from what I remember really isn't bad at all! There are many different vehicles out there that are alot louder than that stock.

Motorcycles and antique cars will fall into different classes with this and have different regulations(I think) decibel level reading would be great at a high, mid and low rpm range so it gives you a good chance of getting the ticket dropped.
I'll give a sound place around my area a try. Im running a cat soo its definitely NOT excessively loud.

Yea, what about Harley Davidson bikes..those things are extremely loud. Reading on the forums about the noise bikes make and a car..is a whole other story on its own!

cops piss me off about the whole exhaust noise thing. I have a straight pipe 3.5" on my gtst and it isnt even that loud, once the wastegate opens though...thats a different story. But you never see any civics have this happen to them. At least the skylines sound good..

Which is the reason why we should all take the time out and know the law. These cops just have way tooo much power..

and btw, on my ticket it reads $11000 .. which im assuming means $110 (the officer doesn't even know how many zero's to use and wants to call the Nissan dealership to find out more about my car..his a joke!).

Did that already. I went in to the closest police station and told one of the officers what happen. The officers Sargent/Supervisor of the division came out his office and told me that as long as they were uniformed officers .. the procedure for stopping was not illegal.

So, do i even bother filing a complaint?

I will just say, something doesn't have to be illegal to be inappropriate. I was not there, and I can't speculate, but if an officers approached me in any way that I would feel inappropriate, I wouldn't care 2 cent if what he did was illegal or not, I would still file a complaint. Luckily never had any problems with cop anywhere I have lived, aldo I do keep hearing about a pretty harsh one running around my area, never had the honor of meeting him and I hope it's stay that way for a long time.

be prepared to be pulled over more often to have your paper work checked out

BTW Ontario doesn't have db limit for excess noise. Pretty much if your EXHAUST isn't stock OEM NISSAN it's consider illegal.

Dont waste your time with a complaint, save yourself the time and hassle
If its for an HTA offence and you feel you didn't deserve what you got, that's what the provincial courts are for
People complain left and right about how they were mistreated and profiled for being pulled over, ticketed, ect
Exercise your rights in provincial courts, if it isnt resolved there, you have more of a chance. That way you can say the prosecutor was intentionally intimidating and you feel you didn't get the service any citizen would get. Add that to your belief that you were profiled and you might get a response. If its a criminal situation where you were assaulted, it was investigated and unfounded and now you fear for your life because the judicial system didn't do it's part...then yes, you have a complaint. After you file your complaint the OIPRD will send the complaint to the divisional complaints coordinator, that is if they feel it is even worth their time because this is a $110 fine hta offense where no assaults/charter violations occurred. The officer will write a response to your complaint which is then returned to you. You then have to respond to his response. Countless man hours and resources will not be used for an unnecessary noise $110 ticket, just saying. You can go that route but nothing will come of it.

We do motor vehicle inspections at our shop in BC and the noise of an exhaust is measured at high idle which is around 1000-1200 on a skyline. I believe in BC it is around 98 DB at high idle. My old skyline definatly was over that but I was running 3 inch all the way back and catless. I was sitting at about 105 decibels, the worst part about this is that if a cop pulls you over and issues an mvi for a loud exhaust you have to pay the shop for the inspection and its almost certain they will find something. Most cops in BC carry the meter in there cars for that exact reason to avoid the whole mvi drama so it must be different where you live.

I should have checked the forum before i left. I just came back from filing the complaint. 'r33_gtst' comment got me unsure as to whether i want to continue with the complaint..****! lol.

I see what your gettin at but not quite. Nothing to do with your exhaust being illegal because he said so. Him getting a ticket because they determined the noise unnecessary, yes, but that's up to the officer to articulate.

So by the officer "articulating" it that would be him saying so, right?

It' slike you tried to disagree with me here but then you backed up my facts. I'm not sure how to respond, lol.

No offense intended but wtf do you guys do where your time is so non-valuable?

Surely $110 is worth a fraction of the time lost it takes to do all the crap mentioned in here. Filing complaints, provincial court...?

A day full day off of work even at $10 an hour almost makes this ticket not worth fighting.

Good chance I'm retarded but I'd pay for 5 of these before I wasted vacation days and weekends to fight them. Unless it affects your insurance or something I don't see this being worth it?

Please educate me if I'm wrong and good luck with your endeavor.

as noted earlier, difference between bike levels and car levels:

bikes being loud is a safety mechanism, allowing other cars with retard drivers that may not see you to possibly hear you.
                                Victory is on the horizon..
