sand blasting coil cover & dupli color paint temp range?

Wondering if its safe to sand blast the coil cover? or if it has to be hand sanded? felt plastic to me so assuming hand sand?

Also wondering if anyone knows if the dupli color perfect match (body paint) can stand the heat if sprayed on the coil cover or if it needs to be high temp engine paint as well?

you can sand blast the cover its all metal so its fine. and i wouldnt use anything but high temp paint since it does get pretty hot.

No you should not use regular paint for this application. "High Temp" paint contains a silicone ceramic base which is what withstands extreme changes in temperature.

Being that the coil cover is a softer metal, it would be wiser to hand sand it. I can see it getting all pitted with sand blasting.

i think im going to be hand sanding it anyways for that reason because i think a smooth finish on the cover would look best.

i just had my covers sand blasted and powder coated so i am talking from experience not speculation which is always the best for accurate responses

i think im going to just sand blast valve covers, timing cover, and j pipe and then hand sand the coil cover. might get lazy and sand blast coil cover as well but i feel like it could have a bad turn out cause i want to keep the lettering

no idea. im going to attempt to sand blast and paint my valve covers, timing cover, etc.. myself. If it turns out bad ill be getting it all powder coated instead

varies from shop to shop but my place i had my quite a bit done: intake manifold, two valve covers, spark plug cover, and two charge pipes. I brought all the stuff oily and dirty he had to mask everything up and plug everything on the intake manifold and then blast paint and bake. had to paint and bake twice due to the color i had done and it was $200 out the door. pics dont do it justice.

If its original paint grab a can of gasket remover. Spray it on the covers and watch the paint bubble and flake off. It works faster than sand blasting... Trust me lol. Gotta love solvents!

well. just a quick update. my suspicion was correct. the coil cover between valve covers is indeed made of plastic (looked, felt, and sounded like plastic and was even flexible like plastic) so i was 99.8% sure it was plastic. with that said though, you can still blast it with glass beads on a low pressure setting and it will remove any paint and clean it up nicely.
