What to pay for a GTR - PS I searched!

Hey guys, I am wondering what I should be expecting to pay for a R32 or R33 GTR in canada. Less than 100 000km. excellent condition.

I am asking this because the importers I have emailed all seem to be saying the cars cost so much more than what I'd expect a 15-20 year old car to cost. I know its a skyline but damn, not being able to get an auction grade 4 R32 GTR for $10000 cad seems fishy. or even an auction grade 4 R33 GTR for $14-15000 cad.

Because of this I will probably just buy a car already in BC, but even then whats a fair price? apologies for the Noobish questions.

I searched for some sort of similar thread, sorry if this is a duplicate.

you can buy a r32 for 7-9k in canada but the condition might not be as you described. if you want something mint id pay 10ish. i wouldnt worry too much about the milage on it since most of the kms on jdm cars arent accurate. a r33 id expect to pay 13-16k.

I definitely agree. Although there are some lucky finds. Kunnz can definitely attest to that. He picked up a mint 97 silver GTR R33 Vspec for a very fair price. Not going to give the exact price but it was in the 16,000$ CAD range. Bone stock and in mint shape. Take your time when you are looking for a Skyline, dont just jump at the first one you find. It takes time to find one that is worth dropping the money on. Also if you are interested in importing your own I would recommend speaking with Craig Pollock from Bonsai Rides or Kunnz (Kunal Arneja) hes on GTRCanada as well. They are both great brokers to go through.

To add to what he said, there are a few deals here and there when looking through the auctions, you just need patience. I'm satisfied with what I scored my GT-R for because the km (75,000) was right around what I wanted, it was a series 3 (xenons!! )and also a V spec. To add to that, the thing is absolutely bone stock with just a blitz catback. Another bonus was what my exporter and I thought was a boost controller from the auction pictures ended up just being a 6 CD changer console for the changer in the back haha, that was a good surprise...really gave me confidence in the GTR's history and its previous owner. Not to mention I got all its shaken history from it's first purchase so I know what has been changed/replaced over its life time.

Shoot me a message and I can give you insight on what R32's and R33's are currently going for in auction as well as the past sales. I also have a pricer to give you an idea of what it would cost landed with duties/taxes/dock fees, this should help you make up your mind.

Skylines already landed in Canada are cheap cause the market is flooded with them..

Ones in japan not to cheap..

Be careful and buy local..

That is a variable question. Price depends on:

- Year
- Spec
- Condition
- Mileage
- Paint Colour

and other factors. The cars certainly sell for cheap in Japan, but when you import them you still have to pay duty charges and HST, which can easily be up to 25% of the price. Keep in mind that importers also have to pay shipping charges, shipping insurance, etc. and have to make some profit on the car and prices can get up there. You can save a couple thousand importing yourself but it can be a tricky process.

I would say for a real good quality R33 you will easily be paying $20,000+. An R32 maybe $15,000+. A lot of the R33's for sale at local importers (other than RD) for around $16K or so are low auction grade cars that will need lots of mechanical work when you get them home.

I would buy one already landed, especially if you want an R32. There are so many available here now it just makes sense, then you can also negotiate price based on condition/your inspection of it.
I just got my R32 GTR for 8500. That was already saftied and Etested (Ontario), and in excellent mechanical shape with a newer rebuild engine (160 compression across), some minor but quality mods, and a lot of the initial mainteneance already performed on the rest of the car.
However, the guy had insurance issues and had to sell (again, Ont), also the paint is original with some shipping marks and fade.
Hence the price I got.
Keep looking, they're out there...

To buy one already landed is of course cheaper, some one else is eating the importation expenses most likely.
I'd say between $10-18K is reasonable for something already landed, or something imported just for you.
But there are a ton of variables.
We just imported one that is most likely the most expensive BNR32 in Canada. It was more than worth it though, as there was at least $70-80K in parts and labour in it.
