I only did it one winter, it was ok, but full throttle in 4th gear going 40km/h still spins the tires
i was waiting for you to chime in on this one, because i know you live near me and i know youve winter driven your beast.
the negatives seem to outweigh the positives, so looks like i'll be putting it away.

on a side note, u still thinking about that beastly engine swap on yours?

The salt builds up and never really goes away
I had a petro Canada car wash card so I washed it every few days.
Just buy a winter car and save your skyline, gas and mind
Try to pick up a Toyota tercel 1995-1999. They run forever and are cheap to operate

As for the beastly motor swap...time will tell
I just bought a house last week so I'm officially $330,000.00 in debt lol
RB30 is my dream but LOTS involved
My car is a daily driver and I like the 500rwhp range. To break into the 650-700rwhp range is excessive for my needs
I'm thinkin of building my rb25, tomei head, port and polish the **** outta it, forged pistons and Garrett GT3076R turbo
I'm happy with my power, just want more response and low end. I haven't really had a car pull on me on the highway and I've had a few porches and tuner cars. If I can get the response up an quicker full boost in second gear I'll be happy
Also want to so an electric exhaust cut out so I can plumb my wastegste back in so it's not so aggressive when it hits full boost. Have the exhaust cut out so I can run side pipe and sound like mayhem when needed

I'm going to try my gts4 out this winter with some winter tires, Only on weekends since I have a work vehicle during the week though. Quadracer111 do you know if Regina's sand to salt ratio is the same?

One thing about the winter driving a car you plan on keeping or is a toy car besides rusting and other crap (like maintenance) that no one thinks about are the OTHER drivers on the road. Some other useless driver in his 500$ winter beater that plows into you while you at a stop cuz he cant judge distance, snow, ice or whatever. Or any other unintended winter accidents that occur.

Salt is a big killer in ontario and seeing how most people who replied are from out west its not a big deal, but dont you guys worry about other idiots on the road??
I know im probably just paranoid but thats just my two cents

I completely agree...actually, no; I MORE than agree, I am very aware of those retarted drivers who shouldn't have licenses, however i have never during a winter (at all more so) been involved in an accident, and no i dont think it will never happen =p
but my point is im in school, starting in Jan and so i won't be daily driving through rushhour traffic etc etc, just grocery store runs, later at night work and cruises,

so i guess my reasoning is that i won't be out as much, especially not in the mornings when a lot of the times is when the majority of the snow has fallen overnight and the roads are treacherous in the mornings.

if that still doesn't make sense ; Yes, I worry, but due to certain circumstances, i worry less. =p

I wouldn't think it would be any more.. Out west here you don't really have to worry about it too much, get it coated with http://www.rustcheck.com/

                and go for it.

Meh, my car is a 19 year old GTR. Sure, I like it, but do I plan on keeping it forever? Hell no, would I be upset if someone smashed into me and wrote it off? Hell yes, someone bumped it in the parking lot the other day and I was very upset, but in the end of the day it's just a car.. If someone happened to hit me and write it off I'd cry about it for a week, then go buy another GTR (no shortage of them in Japan, lol) or even better yet, try out an evo.

Then again, my car is fairly stock, nothing really special. Sure, I can see if someone put as much work into their car as say frankiman or cortexx (sp?) you wouldn't want to winter it, but many of us could easily replace our gts/gtr's with another and not be too heartbroken about it.

Not to mention, the turnover rate of these cars is damn high, winter it and enjoy it while you can before the novelty wears off, as I bet you wont have it in two years, let alone five or another 10+. You (not talking about anyone in particular) say you'll keep it forever now, but give it a year or two. 99.9% of people aren't hanging onto jdm's for more than a couple years before they are up for sale.

I am by no mean saying that these cars cant be winter driven or daily driven. Like some people that ask about daily driving a skyline, its a car like every other one, it will need maintenance and stuff is always gonna wear and break. When i first bought my gtst i had to daily it for the summer cuz insurance was insane.

I am only wondering if anyone else worries about other winter hazards. I may be different because of course i want other cars (mostly a skyline from each era) but i dont really ever planning on selling mine to get one, ill save up like before and buy them when i can. but this is just me, i love my gtst (when its running lol) and cant really ever see myself parting with it.

but again, this is just me, if it were to be totalled beyond saving then of course i would be cutting my losses and saying goodbye, just not looking to do this anytime soon

I'd be hartbroken if a well preserved GTR would get bagged on, period. Do what you will to your car if even it's in decent shape but to say there's a ton of them to buy and replace undermines the fact that pristine GTRs should be taken care of.

Basically I'm saying that if you have a well preserved GTR, for the love of god keep it that way. There's not too many of them out there.

There is a ton of immaculate GTR's in Japan, you just have to pay $10k+ which no one does.. everyone goes for the 4-6k ones which is most of the garbage over here.

In my opinion they are winter drivable if you make them winter drivable.

                          Studded/winter tires
                          Rear end weight

In my case, being in saskatchewan once the first snowfall hits my car is washed, and parked for the year. Just not worth the risk
