  • Freddy Intake manifolds; need some insight

Tried searching, couldn't find any threads. i know there ARE threads on the subject...I just couldnt find them.

Who here has these cast aluminum Greddy replica intake manifolds?

Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for For Nissan Skyline 2.6L RB26DETT R32 R33 R34 GTR Intake Manifold Plenum tcd at the best online prices at eBay! Free shipping for many products!

There are a few others made by different guys, these ones are decently priced (considering its not a mechanical part, I dont mind the replica). 1/4-1/5th the price of the authentic Greddy. Considering I dont have an intake manifold at all right now, and if I were to get a used OEM one I'd spend $100-200 anyways, may as well look at this for around 3.

Input please guys! Thanks in advance.

    I have one, had issues
There was a small hole in it from an error in the casting, was a pinhole size
    Had to have that fixed
Originally it pinched the line to the fire wall and caused a coolant leak. Had to have it decked also
I spent the same amount to buy it and fix it twice as I would if I bought a proper one
I'm gonna upgrade mine at some point. Apparently ISIS is a decent manifold and seals good

Coming from a guy who has stated you get what you pay for and, and has been trying to piece together a Skyline for the last decade, I would have assumed that you had learned your lessons about skyline ownership by now.

To put my two cents into it ya you can buy ebay parts (FMIC's, Exhausts, intakes, Piping, hell even name brand crap). Even if it dosent fit or looks like crap you can mod it. I did this with my Turbo manifold. Bought it for 180, spent 100, and it looks amazing.

thanks for the input guys. yeah Ali Im just wondering if its something worth buying knowing itll need the work. If I can get it setup well for even a couple hundred bucks on top of the 300$ for the unit, its worth it to me.

The "imitation" manifolds/plenums are getting more popular over here. As long as you are comfortable with a bit of machining they may be worth the savings. There is actually a tuning shop over here that will only sell their replica if they are installing it because it requires a bit of work to fit correctly. They don't want to develop a bad reputation because a customer with little experience tried to install it themselves and ran into problems.

It might be cheap and ok but in the end, deep inside, it'll always be an inferior/knockoff product. I guess driving a 20 year old jap sports car doesn't make the ladies horny like an expensive car would but meh. If you're ok with not looking as good as the real thing then youre #winning!
