Ok so since I first got my car in '08 I had some headlight issues. After pulling apart my dash to get at my headlight switch I found the wiring harness had melted itself to the switch and my wires are falling out. After rewiring them to a different switch I solved the problem. Headlights work fine but my concern is the Dashboard lights. Ive just dismantled my dash again for some custom work I'm doing and I really do not like what I see. The wires to my Dash lights are still overheating and causing the insulation to burn and almost melt. This worries me that my car will one day catch fire and the last 4 years of my time and money will burn to the ground. Has anyone else seen this or had any success solving this problem?

The burning u speak of is most likely due to contamination between contacts of the connectors. Dirt or w/e foreign object will cause intermitent connections which leads to arcing and high resistance hence ur burning wires. Clean ur contacts with a contact cleaner and remove the pitting and arcing hope it helps

Now you feel what it's like to own an audi haha. Those things melt terminals like ice cream in the sun. I've never heard of one causing a fire but like the peron above said you should check the terminals and go from there“Hey, come on, its a car right? No. It’s a symbol of your history, its a thread of continuity from which you came to where you are. It’s important that you don’t want to forget who you are.” -Dr.Phil in "Love the Beast"
