Also what is the purpose of car (street, dragracing, racetrack, etc)???
Above determines which brand of gauges suit your application.
Gauge options (popular gauges) -
Autometer gauges (basic, no frills and they do sell a wideband gauge + Bosch o2 sensor and need to weld a bung into exhaust, just before cat)
Apexi gauges (requires a controller, has a opening ceremony where needle moves around, 30sec playback, records peak boost, peak temp, etc)
Defi gauges (requires a controller and faces go black when ignition is off and has a opening ceremony, similar features to Apexi gauges)
HKS camp in centre console and run extra sensors for extra gauges (website seems to be not right) -
Greddy Informeter that does a similar job, but is smaller (just plug it in under dash, stick to centre console, add additional looms for extra gauges on device, etc) -
You're welcome. HKS camp, Greddy Informeter would be alot easier to fit. But you can buy a 3x gauge pod for R32 that sits above middle aircon vent, or there's some gauge pods that mount around where speedo part of dash is. Best to keep gauges away from window if possible (A pillar gauge pod, next to dash can block your line of vision. It's more of a safety thing when approaching roundabouts, etc).
Basic set of gauges are -
Boost (if exceding stock boost gauge limit)
Oil temp (know when oil temps are at a safe level before turning engine off after a drive, to prevent coking / dried oil deposits that blocks oilways inside middle part of turbo or turbo's. Also monitor oil temps and if gets to high, oil could break down.)
Oil pressure (helps to tell you what condition engine is in, as lower oil pressure than what is recommended in engine manual = bearing clearance, cam clearance, piston clearance or basically a internal problem)
Coolant temp (helps to get accurate coolant temps, as stock coolant temp gauge doesn't display coolant temps accurately).
Exhaust temp (mainly for tuning of engine, but if run a catylitic convertor it's worth fitting one, as higher than normal exhaust temps = cat could be partly blocked or have a ECU tune problem, etc)
Wideband gauge (mainly for monitoring Air/Fuel ratio, but is not as accurate as a dyno wideband. But it helps to tell you if something is wrong with fuel part of ECU tune).
Minimum amount of gauges you need = boost gauge on dash next to speedo and oil temp, exhaust temp, coolant temp in pod above centre aircon vent (or mounted to dash in that area).
