  • I'm coming to Canada!

Hey guys I'm a new member around here and I'm coming to Toronto next week from New Zealand to see my girlfriend whos currently studying there. As much as I love her, I cant put up with constant shopping and girl talk and was wondering if anyone would like to meet up if anyone here is in Scarborough from the 29th of August to the 9th of September.

I'm quite curious to see what Skylines are like from Canada since almost every single Skyline in New Zealand is the same setup lol.

Anyway if anyone would like to meet up just hit me up!

It's too bad you aren't coming to Vancouver for Sat. You'll be missing a hell of a show at ReveScene.

About 10% of the Skylines in Canada are quality, most are daily beaters and drift pigs. Ont is a better prospect though, insurance is so out of control that only the guys that truly care about their cars and have money can drive them. Enjoy your stay....

    Jon.
Why don't you come over to MySpace and Twitter my Yahoo untill I Google all over your Facebook.

    1990 GTR Drag Special T88H34D 11.24 @ 127.55mph at only 1.2bar...... officially. SOLD

Damn I was going to fly into Vanvouver too but I changed my flight plans straight to Toronto.

Ah yeah Insurance would be a hassle for Skylines over there I'd imagine. Over here we don't need insurance for anything so I've been lucky enough to own an R32 and an R33 without trouble. Cheers though!

There are some members in the Toronto area with some serious cars. You'll have a great time and there is so much to see and do. Take some time to check out Niagra Falls (45 mins away), Canadas Wonderland perhaps and whatever else "Trip Advisor" says. Toronto is a good time with lots of culture but don't measure all of Canada by your experience there IMHO.

Canada is an odd place, some provinces have private insurance, some have public. Here in BC its ridiculously easy to by a RHD car and insure it, even for a new driver. Ont and AB have private insurance and some poor guys are paying $1000 a month for insurance.....IF they can even find an insurer that will cover them. I consider myself to be very lucky to be in the "JDM Gateway to Canada" province. Even though we get taxed to death here in BC....LOL.

Dang $1000 a month? Even though It's not required over here its $24 a month for full insurance here unless you own a V8 then its alot more. Is that for turbo cars over there or what? I'm probably moving there for about 4 years or so in the middle of next year and would want to import my R32 over with me or maybe my Ford Falcon depending on what the modification/import laws are like there.

Yeah i planned on going to Niagra falls over i sleep off my 2days worth of flying just to get to Toronto . It should be a fun adventure since I've never traveled well anywhere before outside of NZ. It'll be fun to see what another country is like and see a different car scene

LOL, Toronto to Hamilton is like 45 minutes. Tack on another 30-40 to get into the falls. Nothin special there, Just a tourist town with a big waterfall. I'd rather go look around the Sundowners, Best titty bar around these parts!
Dang! You got shocks, pegs... Lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?

The private insurer provinces include all kinds of variables to charge you as much as they can (I'm suprised they don't ask you if you eat spicy food as a risk factor). Here in BC it costs virtually the same for you as an individual whether the car has 100hp or 1000hp only the value of the car pumps up the premium, even then you might pay $1300 a year for a Mustang but only $500 more for a Bentley. New drivers pay more but it goes down as the years pass without accidents.

Because my GTR is a toy that only gets insured for pleasure use I pay $331 for 6 months....not as cheap as you guys (that is stupid cheap, by the way) but quite livable.

                      Jon.

You guys do weekly meets in Toronto? Any chance I might be able to meet you guys and have a gander at your rides for 10mins or so? I could roll over on my 800KW supercharged legs perhaps?

Wow thats just stupid. Although everyones just out to make as much money as they can so I'd see why they do it that way. We are so lucky over here with the price of insurance and out import laws and modification laws etc. $331 Isn't that bad though, Well compared to the $1000 a month Its ******* cheap

How old is your Falcon? If its less than 15 years old you might be able to bring it in as a personal use car, but you would have to take it back home with you when you leave. Older than 15 years, you can sell it to someone here.

Its a 98, The last year and best of the EL XR6 series . Since its exactly 15 years old would i be able to import it? Would i just be able to get a special permit for it or would i have to fully revin it and everything over there?
