  • Repairing damaged rims

I was wondering if anyone could give me a general overview of how companies repair damaged rims.
I understand that everybody will use slightly different methods but is there a standardized way to repair cracked rims?
What about rims with just slight curb rash? Similar methods?
The reason I ask is are repaired rims as good as new or will they always be damaged rims that have been repaired?
    Thanks.

I forgot to ask is the repairing process for cast/forged rims the same? It'd be awesome if I could get a step by step summary of the process. Thanks.

I just wanted to hear some opinions. According to the research I've done, it is not recommended but it seems like such a common procedure.
