  • Help on removing turbos without pulling engine

Anybody have experience taking the turbos off an R32 GTR? They're stock.
I'm having a really tough time, I've gotten to the turbos, blow off valves removed and water lines removed.

Can somebody please give me some hope? Tackling this by myself is frustrating me big time, and my friends are too damn lazy and anti-JDM that they won't help...

I've researched a bit but found nothing that really described how to do it.

If you have, can you point me in the right direction?
Just give it a couple hundred kilometers. It'll shoot you right in the wallet.

You have to take off the down pipe, take out the bolts that hold the turbos to manifold, underneath there's 2 oil drains and two brackets that hold up the turbos. Once that's all off the turbos drop a little , u can get through with extensions/swivels whatever u might need to get at the manifold bolts. It's a PITA the first time, I pulled mine out a few days ago, took about an hour in total.

Yup, what steveo said. Downpipe, all intake piping, oil lines, water lines, then unbolt turbos from manifolds. They shoud drop a few inches. Then you can get at the exhaust manifold bolts. Confused me the first time too. Try searching for the factory service manual. I think it's called 'the holy bible' lol. Be very careful with the metal tubes. I bent mine so bad that they cracked. Also you will need to replace all the copper crush washers or you'll have major leak problems.

Those oil drains and little bracket are what got me, one bracket you get by the downpipe bit the other is kinda up front more by the ac compressor

R32 Engine manual helps a bit.
Leave dumps attached, they come out with the turbos.

If they are R32 units they can be rebuilt.

This is positive feedback and advice. You should make a build thread and post questions there rather than making a new thread for every little endeavour of owning a horribly high maintenance 20 year old car Everything you've asked and will ask in the future is quite possibly already on this site, just search!

+1 to my post count, thanks.

Doing things yourself is fun and cheap but it'll get costly. I installed a newly built forged engine that lasted a week and because I wasn't a mechanic the fault was laid on me and got no warranty. The $15k engine had to be redone. This 3rd time will be built and installed by a shop so they are 100% accountable.

            3cents.

I thought I might have to go from the bottom. Guess I better go buy some jack stands lol thanks for the help and yeah I guess I should start a build thread if I own one of these. All part of the fun I guess!
