  • 97 gts

    Hey everyone,

    Thinking about pullin the trigger on a 97 r33 gts. It's not at all what I want, because ;

    2.0L non turbo
    Price is kinda high (9900+tax)

    Now the reason why I may buy;

    It's in excellent condition inside and out
    No mods at all
    Would make a great car to drop in a 2.5det or a 2.6 engine.
    Its white with white a/m wheels(color I want)
    close to my location( I'm in Newfoundland)
    They offer financing

    Looking for your thoughts feed back etc. should I just wait or another?

      Car is in Halifax. I was planning on flying to Ontario or somewhere this summer to buy. But I would have to drive back to the rock, so I need to get a car that's sensible and not gonna breakdown 2 hours after I buy. Hence the reason for this car.

            Gonna say what I said last time this was asked. Wait for what you want. There's no sense dropping 10 grand on a car just to pull the engine and spend another 6 grand dropping in what you want, then spend months fixing everything that went wrong.

              You are right. It's just been such a long time(4-5 years) and I haven't found that car. Also the price is steadily increasing. 10 g back when I joined the fourm could have got a decent gtr, now everyone want 10g for a body filler special gts-t.

              I will have one. One day. Suppose I have to fly to Vancouver and drive all the way back!

                God you guys pay a lot for cars over there. A 97 Gts will be all of 92kw, have awful 4 stud wheels, small brakes and a non lsd ass end. You'll need change the engine loom if you go 25det/26det as the engine in the r33 gts is only single cam. A common conversion over here is throwing in a 30e engine ad it will run on the 20e loom, not many if any more kW buy a lot more torque.

                  The N/A Skylines get a lot of flak, but honestly I love mine. I'm not in the market for an ultra fast car, plus the turbo models just mean more maintenance and money.

                  Mine is an RB25DE though, I hear the RB20E motors in the R33 are very slow. I think they have like 130 hp, vs the RB25DE which has 190-200.

                  Now, that car in particular is way overpriced. I think my R33 cost less than $5K landed in Vancouver. Obviously you'd have to pay out the ass to ship it to the Maritimes, but you're still saving a ton of cash if you bring a good one in yourself.
