Update:
I have a court date for sept 4th. Tried calling the officer who issues the ticket but he wouldn't return any of my calls.
Plan is to have a video showing both front and rear lights/signals.

update.
I went to court today. Turns out the judge said I'm required to have it and that I was lucky I didn't get a ticket for speeding and for having my nephew in the front seat.
So now I need to get a sticker made to say "right hand drive"
And pay $115 ticket.

Don't give in to this!! It's plainly clear about the signals. Judge is a tard. Wrong about the front seat thing too unless he's in a car seat. R33 series 2 has airbags....... He could had served me 2 other tickets so I gave in. Can't afford any fines.

How did the Judge even know about the other things....did the constable bring them up? What a bunch of Kangaroo bulllshit. There is no way that other stuff ahould have even been brought into the hearing. The law couldn't be more simple, and now that you have been convicted of it, that will be on you driving abstract for the next 5 years. I would have to agree. If you were doing a few other things wrong at the time, it sounds like this was his way of telling you to smarten up. Although the wording is pretty damn clear that you need turn signals OR a sticker, not both. Maybe just to be safe get the words Right-Hand Drive Vehicle put on the car... in Japanese
