  • Nistune

So I'm looking at getting a nistune type 2 board installed in my r32 ecu. Needing the single user licence, install, and cables. I call a distributor in the us and I am quoted 1000 for board and install and an additional 500 for the license and cables. I can get the same direct from nistune in austrailia for 541 us plus shipping. I think I'm in the wrong business. I can see some markup, but 1000.00??. For the price in USA I could buy a djetro. Just wondering if this is commonplace in canada as well.

Do you really need to buy the license? I'm sure at this point it's piratable...

I am going to order direct from nistune, unless I can find a power fc used in my budget when it comes time.

Ask if install cost includes dyno rental, tuner labour for tuning ECU. Install cost varies depending on who does it and if they do it properly with the proper antistatic equipment (work station, wrist strap), high end soldering iron, etc.

            Your looking at (roughly) -

300 install (varies depending on who does it)
541 ECU parts (as you have already mentioned)
700 for tuning fee, dyno rental

Can send the ECU to Nistune in Australia to have the board installed, checked on the bench for problems (alot cheaper for install cost).

PowerFC doesn't have knock control (automatically adjusts to low octane gas via knock sensors) like stock ECU does. PowerFC has other features stock R32 ECU doesn't, so there's positives and negatives to both ECU's.

Aftermarket ECU is if your serious about racing or engine configuration (front mount intake plenum, etc) requires it.
