  • Preparing to Purchase a Skyline

Going to get to it because my last posts just get viewed.

I have wanted a Skyline R34 my entire car loving life. It started in Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, and admittedly being 22 now, seeing 2Fast 2Furious when I was 11 blew my batman PJ's off seeing that portrayal of a Skyline. Been my dream car ever since. I know it's a GTR, and that's what my dream car remains to be.

However I am a practical man.

FIRST: I have looked around on a few JDM sites in hope to find something I like. Can you recommend any ones you trust?

Second: I know have a solid full time 40 hour week at hopefully $13 soon ($11 currently). I would like to spend max $15k and ideally $12k. I plan to apply for a car loan hopefully or just a regular bank loan if not.

Third: I have found a R34 GT-T with a GTR bodykit on it for $11.5k FOB. Also looking at another on the same site with some tier one upgrades for $15k FOB. What are my odds at talking these people decently down in price? They did say they would haggle.

I live in BC, on the island and can plan a trip to pick it up from the port. The website I went to said New Westminster was closest they go to.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, Cheers.

So your looking to buy straight from a Dealer site like http://www.tradecarview.com/ if so you can always shoot the dealer and offer and see what they say, they normaly are willing to go down a bit.. not to much..

Have you looked into dealing with a Exporter in japan and getting something through auction:
http://www.pacificcoastjdm.com/ Derek that Owns this Company is From Kelowna, and a great guy.
http://www.braveautointernational.jp/ Mark that runs this Company has been exporting cars from Japan for 30 years now.

All cars that are shipped RO/RO (Roll On Roll Off) land in Delta/New West. even if they say Vancouver its still going there.. lol.

Check out http://import-era.com/ Lots of import related info there.

Post links of the cars your looking at.

Well the cars I want are on a JDM site still in Japan purchased from auction and all that deal. I'm a bit skeptical of the mileage on them but they look in great condition.

Thanks for the links, I'll definitely check them out.

I'm on a bit of the same boat right now as I'm also looking into buying a line. I never really thought of going through a dealer but that might actually make sense if you could get one for a decent price. I wonder which would be the most reputable dealers.

Ben listed the most tried and true...

Derick is a great guy...delt with him personally in Japan. Importing yourself is the way to go...you can save about 25-50% that way. Mileage is not really a big deal...very few cars go beyond 100k and when they do the timing belt is 99% of the time done and most other major services. I would have no problem buying a 100k km car if the interior and body are mint.

            Jon.
Why don't you come over to MySpace and Twitter my Yahoo untill I Google all over your Facebook.

            1990 GTR Drag Special T88H34D 11.24 @ 127.55mph at only 1.2bar...... officially. SOLD

Shoot me a PM, if you have any other questions. but either of those exporters i mentioned will answer all your questions for sure..

your biggest worry i would think is finding a shop on the island that will pass it through the BC inspection.
