  • Stereo Help?

I am trying to wire up a new stereo for my R32 GTR, and I am having 1 issue that is bugging me to absolutely no end.

Other then running the primary power from the battery, I can not find a way to run the wire through the car. I cant seem to fish it through either hole (on the driver side, or passenger side) where it appears the ECU is wired through the firewall.

Any Suggestions on what to do?

    Thanks in advance

drill a hole in the firewall.... or you can do it ghetto style and run it through the door and under the carpet.

well the plan was to run it through the interior under the carpeting, which is the easiest. but I dont really want to drill a hole through my firewall.

simple fix. Coat hanger+ electrical tape.

Tape your wire to one end of the straitened coat hanger, feed the other end of the coat hanger threw the driver side fender into the cab (hard to do with just wire cause its a stiff rubber boot).

It is the same one that you can use to hard wire a turbo timer up with. It is in the car behind were the stereo goes. Use a muti meter and test for the 12.5 volt wire. You don't have to go through the fire wall. If I can remember the color I will let you know.

ughh? how else were you trying to fish it though. It really shouldn't be hard at all. If you want to avoid damaging anything else in the same hole, take some pliers and bend a small tight loop on the end your pushing through.

You can easily (kinda lol) reach the rubber boot on the driver side from inside with your hand. If you want to make sure not to damage anything, just pass it about 2 inches in, and go and pull it from the inside.

I have the wire in there now, and now that I know I can do that, I am finding a spot to mount the amps. I want them to be hidden so thats my next battle. thanks for the help guys.

I did hear about someone who mounted them in between the rear seat and the plate at the back of the trunk. If they get quite hot I wouldn't do this, so it depends on the amp you're using, but it's what I'm considering doing.

Where did you pick up your wire from? I was told to go with zero gauge for power, but when I was checking it out...it's huge! I'm considering 4 gauge for power since I intend to run one amp initially, possibly two if I end up getting a sub (doubtful though, I'm not a big fan of subs in cars, I'd prefer to get really good front/rears instead).

                      Edit:

I started my own thread here a while back, there are some good pictures on page 2 and 3, here's page 2. SpartanAir is the one who installed his amp between the rear seat and the trunk.

YOu can take that plate off from your trunk. I think there are a few bolts holding it on. That's what I've been told anyways.
