how many ways are there to cut the speed limiter on my gtr? theres the speed defender kit i always hear about. is there something as simple as cutting a wire? id assume if it was that simple, i would have heared about it by now. are there any other ways to bypass this?

The easiest way is to get the HKS SLD or Apexi PFC. The SLD is obviously much cheaper though.

There's 2 speed limiters on stock HCR32 ECU. One is set at 180km/h and another one at 200 km/h. If you have Nistune, just plug notebook up and raise the limits to 480 km/h, 500 km/h. Only problem is speedo won't display past 200km/h.

I noticed another commonly used way is to buy a Apexi Rev Speed meter that disables the speed limiter and can display speed above 200km/h, etc -

Do the old greddy boxes disable both limiters?

Never used a Greedy box or can't remember if anybody I know has used a Greedy box.

Actually there's 3x speed limiters on BNR32 ECU and 2x on HCR32 ECU. The extra speed limiter on BNR32 ECU must be a safety speed limiter.

As far as I know it should disable both. You can set it to disable between 140km and 200km I think, so it should be fine. It would be pretty pointless to only disable one.

I would recommed a nistune board , cheap and you will get some basic tunng options along with a safe way to eliminate speed cut.
type 2 board is 500$ and takes about 5 minutes to install.

well with the nistune, you need to desolder the Eprom... which is always the long part of socketing an ecu...

not 5 mins, more like 2-3 hours

You do it with your eyes closed or something? i've desoldered lots of eproms and other things and it only takes a few minutes.

I've got a full stand alone but I really like the fact that it tells you the speed your going even past 180km/h.

Wow, it can even tell you your horsepower via the optional G sensor.
