  • Speed Sensor wire to ECU?

    Hey,

So, I just bought a Greddy Full Auto Turbo Timer and I was wondering where I should connect my Speed Sensor Wire. I was guessing the ECU.. But is it a hard job, is their a chance of messing everything??

    Thank!!

why does a turbo timer need a speed signal in the first place?

either way, if you tee into the wire you will have no issues so long as the turbo timer doesn't output a signal.

I don't really know to be honest. I just know the TT have a wire for Speed. I didn't read the manual to see the feature.

... anyone eveer say this to u b4?

        RTFM!!

when you're car cost you a tonne of money.. dont you think it would be worth it to read a lil booklet first? lol

just read the instructions before you go messing around in there..trust me, you won't regret reading 15 minutes worth of possibly useless info, but you WOULD regret messing up your car...

no gains to be had from cutting corners!

Auto turbo timer would use speed, rpm, etc to workout the correct run down time.

You usually splice / tap into wiring by ECU for stock o2 sensor readout. Speed might be the same, depending on what wiring diagram says.

I have a Greddy Full auto timer. That wire is for the a bunch of the other functions that thing has besides a turbo timer. Like acting as a digital speedo.

My HKS auto timer has a speed sensor hooked up to it. Shows a digital MPH reading for driving in the states, does 0-60, lap times, rpms, battery voltage, top speed and of course the run down timers. I personally didn't want to cut into my own wires / figure out by guessing whats what, so I paid a professional to wire it in. $30 well spent considering what I could have done to it. (aka not reading the freaking manual)

Care to share who installed it for you? Any pics of their work?

I had a TYPE-1. The guy who did the install of my last TT,took the RPM and Speed directly from the cluster and did a soldering. I wouldn't do it myself lol!

i know the issue has been resolved for the poster..but here is my input anyways..lols

                      follow this link http://www.plxdevices.com/ECUDatabas...CU%20PinOut%22
This is the ECU pin out. which will show you which wire is for which instrument of the vehicle.
so when reading the instructions that came with your unit; if you read "Connect the Tie-dye wire to the Speed Sensor wire on your vehicles ECU"
                      You can compare and contrast..
Also most instruments usually come with all of the compatible vehicles Wiring Diagrams.

                      and as said above\/\/

That is what i was going to say too...an automated Turbo timer will calculate the proper cooling time in relation to RPMs/ Speed driven over time, and turn your car off after that amount of time. and also if it is more than just a turbo time..like a boost controller and/or REV and Speed. it would have many other functions as well...Such as the "Apexi AVC Type-R Boost Controller"

                      Info found here: http://www.alamomotorsports.com/apexi/savcr.html

                      great buy.

                      Cheers, Adam:wink:

I bought the turbo timer from Exotic Speed when they had their show room in Richmond, I had their installer do it.
