  • Apexi and general rev/speed meters effect?

My new '92 GT-R came with an older Apexi Rev/speed meter, and I can't find any on-line instructions. (a PDF of the new version exists...)

I think I get how it works by fooling the ECU into seeing a lower speed that you are actually doing, but would this not also screw up the HICAS programming, and anything else that the ECU relies on that's speed-related?

Also, it seems to read an RPM that is about 25% higher than the actual RPM. What would be the purpose of that?

Also, anybody know what the speed-limiter would be set to on a '92 GT-R?

    Thanks.

Found the Apexi Rev Speed Meter (RSM) instruction manual: http://www.xspeed.com.au/manuals/rsm_instruction.pdf

The RPM was a simply "cylinder selection" parameter, but the manual does not shed any light on how the speed limit is overridden. (I'm guessing that it's a "hold" at 179km/h, if you actually go over that speed. That would make the most sense, and have the least impact...)

I'm a little leery of it since the all aspects of the car's handling are adjusted based on speed along with g-force sensors. (4WD, 4WS, ABS...)

    Hmmm...
