What should i do? opinions?

I Have a 92 GTR, low compression in cyl 6. I got the car this way, and really dont wanna pay thousands for a new motor.
I'm thining about parting/selling the car as it sits.
first, i was wondering can i just pop the head off and oil pan ect and re ring the RB26 thats in there? or is it more complicated it that?

160ish km used to have a nismo cluster, it sold now has a cluster showering 202 which isnt correct
car has short shifter,
Brand new GT2860-5's .64 used for maybe a couple days (reson why there's low comp in 6, waste gate line melted and boost spike)
new nismo lowering springs and shocks
buddy club exhaust
I live in sask and the car is sitting at my dads house about 45 min from ottawa ontario. the car is complete nothing that i know of is missing

So what should i ask for the car as a whole as it sits?

Should i re ring it?

You need to rebuild the bottom end. Re-ringing is just a band-aid solution that might not last very long.

rebuild what exactly? id be replacing the rings and bearings, honing the block ect

whats your budget, and what do you WANT?


solution... if you're tired of headaches, sell it and be done with it, if you have some money and some patience... then you pull the motor and do the following as a bare minimum plan:

$900 - new crank R34 (for the wider oil pump drive) - unless it has a collar fitted alrdy?
$300 - new N1 oil pump at least (hundreds of $$ more for a high end pump)
$250 - N1 water pump
$200 - full Timing belt kit. (belt, idler, tensioner)
$300 - you'll need a full engine gasket kit
$350 - a set of ACL race bearings for main, and rod
$100 - set of oem piston rings
$$/hr - machine shop to deck the block, the head, hone the cylinders and give a new cross hatch
- reuse stock rods, and pistons but if the motor blew from over boost id say you'll need an overbored to 87mm probably, so that means new pistons, which will come with new rings pistons are roughly $800 minimum.

thats sort of the bare minimum, and honestly a HUGE portion of more $$ will come from the labour the machine shop does, and if you have an engine builder assemble it for you, which you should, unless you're experienced with building motors, clearance is a BIG deal.

Did you do a leak down test ? is it burning oil or smoking really bad ? Just thinking it might be a valve and not the rings. A full rebuild with a few upgrades but mostly OEM would cost you less then $5000

I haven't even touched the car yet. I havent even seen it since its blonged to me.
I looked up some parts, H beam rods, aftermarket pistons, cometic head gasket, ARP's, ACL's, HKS intake cam new waterpump and oil pump and it was around 2700$ I have some money to spend, but in reality i just want the car for summer and i'll probably sell it in the fall if i dont sell it now. I'm really not sure. with me being short in free time, something turn key would be nice. but if i order everything between now and june and it only takes me a couple days to get it back up and running im ok with that too

I'm looking to do new bearings and rings, timing belt kit and oil pump. Just wondering who you went with purchasing these parts? Could you pm me the supplier?
