  • Relocating fuel filters?

So uh, I am heading out to get a bunch of 3/8 fuel hose, and I figure since I'm doing the filter, I should probably make it easier to get to next time. Can the filter be mounted sideways or upside down, or does it have to be sitting right-side-up to work properly? I was thinking of mounting it in a similar place to where a oil filter relocation kit would mount an oil filter.

In theory, you should be able to mount it anywhere, I'm just concerned about it working properly while sitting sideways... Or upside down :P

what would make you think the orientation of the filter would cause an issue? i would say it has no effect and feel free to mount it as you wish... but im not even 50% sure of that, its really just a logical guess,

all thats in there is a fine filter on the micron size.... so lets wait until someone else chimes in.

I personally wouldn't since there'd be no point. Fuel filters generally don't need to be changed that frequently as opposed to your 3000 km. oil filter.

The stock filter isn't even hard to get at. Not sure why you would want to move it?

Pointless to do so as ppl mentioned.

Orientation doesn't matter either as it's pressurized around 36-40PSI ONE way.

A stock filter is good for about 40,000KM but even if you did it every 10,000 to be anal, it's not a big chore.

Or you could do it all from scratch like mine and run an AN fitting and access/clean it within 5 minutes

PS: oh, also the stock location is nice and cool, the more exposed it is, the more heat soak it will get so there is no point really..

I'm only complaining about the stock location because I have a bunch of ABS crap in the way on the side closest the firewall. I guess I'll just leave it where it is I'll show off my arm that's all cut to bits from jamming my hand in there blindly at the next meet

Hand + Arm = butchered! Damn HICAS solenoid thing near the intake manifold. I managed to get everything done except for the line from the filter to the port on the manifold, because the line i bought is like... 1.5" to short Oh well, looks like im walking up to lordco tommorow. I can't believe how much gas leaked out too, at least 3 litres Oh well. I caught it in some fancy buckets

ps: I bet this is 1000x easier without the HICAS solenoid in the way. Anyone in the lower mainland have a hicas lockout bar? :P
