I ran a PFC with Datalogit for a season or two, but comments on auto ignition timing are universal.
Auto ANYTHING needs to have a meaningful setpoint and a reliable feedback signal. Narrowing this to engine controls we can talk about air/fuel ratio and ignition timing... Setpoints in this context are based on engine load and conditions. You can command AFR setpoints and tweak fueling based on wideband output no problem, but ignition timing setpoints depend on more complex relationships and the only measurement I'd trust to control timing is cylinder pressure measurement - and I doubt co-pilot is using that.
I'd get into it more, but your avatar makes me want to navigate away from this page!
cripes,,, I'm a retard... technically speaking..
...all this time I was thinking like a math teacher.... ..
logging knocks on my PFC,,, retard the timing !!!,,, subtract !!!!,,, no actualling when I was was subtracting the ignition values,,, I was advancing timing,, increasing timing !!!..
STUPES !!!!
...okay,, any datalogit folks out there,, how far do you allow the knock values go before you retard (add to timing) ???
