  • What have you done with your A/C ?

My A/C work but doesn't get really cold.. I guess it might only be the usual new R134( spelling?) swap . Just wondering what you have done to make your a/c working. I would like to get an idea of how much it would cost me to fix it lol!

same here,,, have you done the A/c self diagnostic,,, there's a thread here somewhere describing how to do it... be sure to be outside when you do it (sunny)...

I was told you can fill it up with propane ??

More than likely your system has a leak if you had to recharge it. If you dont get it fixed, refilling it will only be a temp fix. R134 is the one used now, but it's not as good as R12.

Although you can't get R12 in Canada anymore, you can still buy them off ebay.

          that's what I did.

But only because it stopped working properly. Don't delete it if it works ; that is stupid.

I got mine filled and retro-fitted for the new gas. Did a leak test, it didn't leak and it was really really cold (colder then any other car I've ever been in). Then I built my motor and got frustrated that nissan left no f-in room in a r32 gtr engine bay and just started removing/deleting stuff (AC was the first thing to go). I miss AC when I'm in traffic but other then that I like having the windows open. Theres literally no room in a r32 gtr and its hard to work on anything since there isn't any room, I can't understand it, Nissan messed up on that part of the engineering. Removing the AC free's up alot of space and its about 50kg if you remove everything (and theres one less massive bracket in the engine bay, one less compressor, one less rad, one less belt, 2 hardlines, a bottle, etc....)

If you need I have a good r32 AC system sitting in my garage if you want it send me a PM.

Lol no room in a R32...have you been under the hood of the 300zx tt or even NA? Thats a tight setup in there, we have it pretty good compared to that car.

As for your question, you have R12 as was stated before. You can only find old cans of it in the states and will need a license to purchase that. You can look at retrofitting to R134a, there are kits out there but it isn't cheap and requires a bit of work. Not only that, but you'll need to find a place to get rid of whatever R12 is in your system...I'd start asking around at small shops about a retrofit kit and pricing.

Yea I've actually been under a hood of a 300zx TT USDM, and it was indeed worse but still our cars are pretty hard to work on none the less. The setup and wiring I actually find super simple its just the absense of elbow room that makes it a PITA.

Ac went right in the trash. I think me and the buddies could pool all our our condensers and pumps/lines and make a nice work bench!
Traction is optional, so are zipties

Removed the intake manifold, AAC valve, and manual boost controller. Vented the AC gasses. Will work on removing the AC system and installing sexy new power FC boost controller later.

Mine works, gets the actual temp but only comes out (window vents)...maine vents (middle and left and right) does not work after the diagnostics. In the process of trying out DIYs i found online for the mode door actuator. If not i need the part!
