  • Aftermarket tach/speedo

I'm looking to replace my stock cluster as I got a 6 gauges in the center console and I don't like the way it looks. Has anyone seen an autometer 10k rpm gauge with a digital display of speed built in? Also has anyone seen pieces of precut carbonfiber to fit the gap of removing the stock cluster will make?

Ive tried looking but no luck.

Somthing similar to that however I want the rpms on the outside with just a digital speed display no analog speed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kyle

Is that the stock cluster housing with a carbon plate on it? And yeh that is basically my plan.

        click teh link

but i don't think you'll be able to get a digital speed readout only
since all the gauges in the R32 are electric but the speedo, which is mechanically driven
theres a small dynamo inside the speedo that sends a voltage signal to the ecu to tell it what speed you are driving, hence why a turbo timer can show a digital speed readout,
but without the oem speedo, i don't think it'll work

unless you can take the speedo apart and keep it plugged onto the speedo cable, and somehow still send the signal to the ecu, its a huge pain IMO

this custom cluster setup is only good for the track

UNLESS, you buy a GPS unit and get your road speed from that

I'm not too familiar with how the speed sensor in the GTR is. Is it on the trans or on the cluster? Because if it's separate than the cable/cluster then couldn't you just use any electric AM speedo? And if that cluster shown is for the track wouldn't it mess with the attesa system if it didn't have speed sensor signal going to the computer?

For speed you could always get the Defi VSD (HUD) and project your speed right onto your window... Iv been wanting to pick on up for quite some time now. So really that gauge set up with the VSD wouldn't be to bad on the street. The only thing that would piss me off is not having a gas gauge, and only a warning light.
