  • Engine Torque Damper... - ????

Has nayone installed one of these ???

.. do they make any noticable difference...

...obvious advantages --- probably takes stress off of motor mounts

    increase NVH

clutters up engine bay for what it does.

most are overpriced for how simple they are.

It's mainly for stopping shifting problems, like with SR20DET in Silvia that rocks on it's mounts and causes shifting problems. Also it does help to reduce stress on stock engine mounts and could help to reduce gearstick moving sideways under hard cornering, drifting if mounted to rear of motor.

I've heard people complaining about increased NVH, makes sense when it's solid mounted to strut tower.

There was one on my car when I got it and I've left it in place. My car shifts silky smooth and has never broken an engine mount.

The damper is not really needed on the 26. The money can be spent better elsewhere. Ebay fitment for the win. Do you know why autobahn is so cheap? it's all universal. That's why they're cheap shiet, sometimes it fits, other times no. Atleast you saved cash though, maybe get it modified :S

nismo mounts are nearly identical to the OEM mount, just a different stamp. A new set of OEM are cheaper and do as well.

I run the strut shock on my s13 sr only cuz I have a greddy mani and it prevents the motor shifting that before, caused the booster nipple to rub on the clutch cyl and the brake booster. After I installed it there was no more rubbing. Mine is a HPI. I would box in the pass side motor mount before I drop big money on one of them but they do work great imo. But they will for sure pro long the life of your mount. the pass side always rips apart with any kind of racing or old age from the engine torquing.

Running a Silkroad if it matters. Shifts are dead solid since fitting it. Bit more vibration but who cares. Makes driving all that much more fun.

I know for SR's Kazama & Nismo E/G mounts sit the motor a little lower in the engine bay. Possibly the same for RB's.

Yes I was curious about this damper as i was having weird miss shift while hard cornering so I look and opened up one form ebay (zenaracing from hongkong) what i found out while i took the inners apart was 3 pairs off rubber bushings. So im assuming that once the torque makes the twist ., with this rubber damper well does what it suppose to do , it stops the engine from twisting . as the rubber bushings compress and cushions to prevent twisting. Ill say that it is a cheapest solution than replacing motor mounts .
Im not sure if all torque dampeners work on the same inner dampers . Im guessing others could be filled with liquid or gas ...
