Lots of high power GTRs don't run them. They make everything else rattle. Nismo or custom mounts are the best choice.

They're both rubber, one might have better compound in it I guess but not solid.

finally installed this... had to get it shortened about 2 inches,, but it is in...

I always had a grind up shifting into fourth,, unless I waited for 2 seconds between 3rd and 4th...

With the dampner in absolutley now grind straight into 4th from 3rd, silky smooth...

don't really think there's a diff in the ebay one's vs the name brand...
just another motor mount at the top of the engine....

You we gotta shorten the "name brand" ones too? Is your gas or spring loaded?

                Engine torque dampness are neither
They are nothing like a hood, trunk or suspension strut
They are just a straight rod connecting 2 points with a chunk of hard rubber between the two

I fail to understand how limiting the engine torque over is going to help shifting, the clutch is hydraulic,
the shifter is attached to the trans and the rails are internal.

I think the whole premis of this mod is to keep the front inner CVs alive on the AWD cars.

I have no issues at all shifting at my power level, no dampner. I am going going to max out the NVH though and fab up some solid steel mounts to make sure I don't blow any CVs.

Hmm, maybe your large laggy turbo doesn't have good torque at the low end shifts and doesn't shock load much :S

Oh yea, the sarcasm was thick enough......LOL.

For the NISMO mounts though, I have read here and there that the rubber in the NISMOs is a higher duromater than the standard ones making them a little stiffer.

I'm quite surprised that some of the southern (Aus.) guys like WhiteLine and the like haven't made some Polyurethane mounts yet. I had Poly's in my Chevelle and it made a huge diff. in controlling engine torque-over. So much so that I didn't bother going to solid mounts.

I'm not worried about trying to understand why it works,,, it just did,,,
before install - grind ,,, after,,, silky smooth..

it's not like the scenario when I was 20 and I thought my car went faster when I put fuel injector cleaner in the tank

If selecting an engine torque damper make sure at the very least it's pointed in the direction of the engine's "twist". I've seen so many ricer dampers that aren't even functional in the way it's mounted.
